other wankers
Well I'm sold, and for no reason other than your own inclusion of yourself in the "wankers" camp. Had you excluded yourself, that'd have been a total dealbreaker. Kudos!

Actually, my own laziness has relegated my interest in the time machine to be purely for traveling into the future to a time when I've already built the time machine. But I'm still figuring out how to get a temporary time machine in the present so I can go forward to where I have the genuine article. Seems to be more than a three pipe problem, even at the slowest possible cadence. 🤔

I am right there with you, a piece of our enjoyment dies with each lost blend, Sadly tobacco is not as well thought of as it once was by Society.

Do we want to take bets on which blend will be the last one available?

HH Balkan, but not betting. Only saying so because you can still buy tins of this blend.

None of the HH blends were popular. But even within the HH family, I perceived that there was a hierarchy. I believe that the main driver of the rapid buy off when the end came was FOMO.

I think I've seen enough chatter here to confirm that they were appealing to many.
Maybe not GOAT's, but good blends.

Certainly they had appeal and a following. I was lucky enough to have sampled and immediately liked HH Bold Kentucky, HH Old Dark Fired, HH Burley Flake, and the Dark Twist before the end. I knew what I was stocking up on when Mac Baren was sold. But what I and other enthusiasts like doesn't compare to the popularity (and sales volume) of blends like Cult Blood Red Moon, Night Cap, Escudo, Orlik, Capstan, etc.

When the end came those HH blends still sold off slowly. Long standing HH blends sold off much more slowly than new "small batch" blends did.

Buyers of those aged tins of Capstan may be very disappointed.
All of the Capstan I had from 2019 has lost its toppings and doesn’t taste like Capstan. Same is true for the St Bruno I bought in 2016. Dead as a doornail. All toppings faded out. Whatever MacBaren was using has no staying power.
