Yeah yeah, we all knew that the inventory for both Mac Baren and Sutliff were getting severely disemboweled. But I still felt a sense of sadness today as I scrolled through their respective pages on SP. Many listings have been removed. It's not that I'm surprised, it's just that when it finally happens and you finally see it...it's just a bummer, that's all. I got what I wanted before the hammer came down; that's not the point. Call me a sentimental wuss if you must, you certainly wouldn't be the first to do so. I just really enjoyed seeing all those offerings. And now...it's starting to look real bare.

I'll live. We all will. But it's still sad.

If it’s any consolation I would say that we will start to see Euro blends pick up some of that vacant space. Wessex and Fribourg & Treyer are two that come to mind and we have seen HU come online which is good. They are different and it’s about finding new favorites and savoring your cellar now.

Many of us have already been through that sense of loss with McClelland and D&R. Then there was the whole FDA thing that prepped us all to an apocalyptic loss that never happened. It's also irritating that people just refusing to believe that the shelves in the stores will ever change. I just assume that tomorrow or one tomorrow pretty soon, there just won't be any pipe tobacco. This is way healthier thinking as long as one acts on it and stocks up on the blends you love.

It's almost as if there are some pipe smokers that just walk around in stupidity just buying a new tin when the one they have open is empty. WTF kinda of life is that? That is cigarette smoker mentality.

I'm not going to be consoling crying pipesmokers over this. I will just say that you'd better stock up NOW on anything that would make sad to lose, because it is wiser to live thinking that all commercial pipe tobacco will one day no longer be available, than to one day find yourself left out altogether. Buck up and stock up.

Funny when I started to get into pipe smoking. As in started to make it something I did regularly near daily. I was shocked and overwhelmed by the choice of pipe tobacco and the pathetically similar descriptions. And thought do we need this many pipe tobaccos. It felt a bit like if pepsi and coke tasted the same and used the same secret recipes. It only took a year before that stopped being how I looked at it.

Admit it you fell for my "joke" when I told you that they didn't really mean it. And that if you got really drunk and called them at three in the morning and explained how you really feel on their voice mail that they'd see the error of their way and not only bring it all back but send you 2 pound samples. By the way I do the same thing to every guy that gets dumped (they don't remember cause I usually do it when they're black out drunk).
it's just that when it finally happens and you finally see it...it's just a bummer,
Yeah it kind of is. It's not on par with but in the smallest way possible similar to how yeah we all die at some point but when a busload of kids spontaneously unmanifests entirely there is something sadder and senseless feeling about it.
that's all. I got what I wanted before the hammer came down; that's not the point.
Not me. But I am o.k. with that. I would be o.k. with a small selection. But o.k. and happy are different things.
Call me a sentimental wuss if you must,
I don't have to but if I ever do see you in real life that is precisely what I will call you now.
you certainly wouldn't be the first to do so.
I can make it feel like the first time if you want.

What does make me sad is the Drew Estate blends. Some of those where incredible and would have eaten a huge amount of my yearly pipe budget if still available in a regular sense.

What a sentimental wuss.
What I assume you meant to write was. "what is a sentimental wuss" It's a guy that complains about not being able to buy something he wasn't ever going to buy anyways and then sits next to a horse crying about it while his frozen yogurt melts and then cries about that. Which yeah that does describe the guy who started this post.

I used to do that years ago. Suffice to say, I'm glad I changed that behavior.

Anyone else severely creeped out by this?
Once the quaaludes kick in, that feeling wanes significantly. At least that's the hot rumor. 😎

Plumcake will forever be missed, but not missed in the cellar…..probably have 10 pounds of it or somewhere around there. But still not enough……
I just picked a pound. Which I dutifully turned over to my father that smokes it much more then I do. It's only fair. I will get his wonderful pipes with enough waiting.... Morbid I know.

Dear frozen yogurt: you are the celery of desserts. Be ice cream or nothing. Zero stars.

Unlike all these other wankers, I offer you a practical solution.

NOW! Yes! This large workbook and study guide -- this is NOT a skimpy pamphlet like others dare to sell -- contains actual usable diagrams for time travel machines you can construct in a reasonable amount of time.

Or if you're not inclined to build your own, some refurbished units may be available soon (can be a bit pricey though).
