There, that, it’s got to be the meerschaum I want, only in a sitter shape.

No nekkid women, no old Roman Gods, just a circus full of animals and dogs baying noble stags and lots of tobacco leaves and lattice work to admire, plus a few Masonic symbols, not overtly many.

It shall sit on my desk, on a large walnut ashtray holder I haven’t bought yet, and on occasion I’ll go over the carving and see if the man who admired it, has travelled some.

I might need to commission it.

Which would mean a first big desk sitter meerschaum from stock, then a custom order.

It will be smoked, and a lot.

All I need, is a trusted meerschaum seller feller, preferably a Turk with a mustache.:)

That actually sounds like an awesome pipe, and one worth commissioning - an old world hunting scene. Intricate carvings are not for me, but I can see the appeal, especially something like that from a very skilled carver.

Another reason to add a pipe to the stash is to remember some occasion, associated with my law practice.

I have a Bari pipe purchased the day I lost about $5,000 for my share of a medical malpractice case that ended when the 90 year old doctor who walked with two copper canes must have been paid more than we’d paid him, and he retracted his affidavit. The worst part was telling the client, but loosing that $5,000 hurt a lot, too.

But today another old lawyer had me read an abstract (I ain’t forgot how) and serve as guardian ad litem in a quiet title action. I was going to waive the fee but he’d already provided the traditional $100.

While we waited, a beautiful young girl, in a wrinkled black dress, stood crying beside her lawyer, wearing an N95 mask, getting a default divorce from some guy locked in the penitentiary for beating her,,,three different times. Just a scene straight out of “It Sure Can Get Cold In Des Moines”, except it was a courtroom and not a hotel lobby.

I took my $100 and scored a Grade 1 Nording on eBay, for a little less than that.

As I left my office I heard the barber next door coughing his lungs out, although he didn’t die of Covid 19.

Some of these I may remember, when I smoke my Grade 1 Nording.

I want a booster, as soon as they’ll boost me.

Life is too interesting to end, too early.
