I am sorry for your situation. And I hope everything goes well. And you get back to a better quality of movement. My father-in-law had surgery on his vertebrae, he could hardly move, and his pain was horrible. After the operation, he is new, he is 80 years old. His vertebrae were crushed from the middle down, a very difficult operation, but it was successful. Prayers for you Jesse.

The neurosurgeon I first started seeing in 1997 had me going through physical therapy for three years before he considered surgery on my lower back.

It sounds like your niece is a good neurosurgeon to have watching out for you.

You're very lucky to have a niece who is a neurosurgeon at Stanford no less. It's good to have an expert family member who can look out for your interests and help you sort through diagnostic possibilities and treatment recommendations. Chronic pain is unbelievably debilitating. I hope you get relief soon.

Just saw this thread and wanted to add my best wishes to you, Jesse, on your recovery and recovery. I am very sorry you are having to deal with this. You are so right that getting older is not for sissy's. I'm in my 60's and while I stay very active here on the farm, I feel the aches and the arthritis more and more with time.
Hang in there and follow the advice of your medical professionals.
