Just skimming and people still keep talking about top sellers.

Keeping top sellers is good for Mac Baren the business. But we're not talking about a business, we're talking about big corporate. What's best for an individual business owned by a big corporation is not necessarily in-line with what's best for big corporate.

Big corporate doesn't sell tobacco or run a tobacco business... they sell stocks and promises and run a grifting business.

Top-seller does not equate to top margins. It's a grave mistake to assume that because something APPEARS to the consumer to be a best seller (doesn't mean that it even is, and even if it is a best seller, that doesn't mean it has the best margins), that it won't end up on the chopping block.

Business to consumer is willing to take lower margins on a product to bring more consumers that hopefully buy other products. Big corporate only cares what the business looks like on paper and stock value and could not give two shits about loss of customers as long as they can show profit growth (which they use as a selling point for selling stocks), and you can lose customers while still increasing profits. Because there's more to it than that, MB/Sutliff isn't the only thing STG owns either, so while it might make intuitive sense that more business = more money, that's not how it works necessarily and we don't know how MB fits with the rest of what STG owns or plans.

Popularity of a product has almost nothing whatsoever to do with it, stop using that as a way to guess whether a blend is safe or not. Never mind we have only minimal insight and just guessing as to what sells the most by appearances from limited information, we have no insight at all into profitability and margins, which is all that really matters.

Excellent point.

Just looking at Century Tobaccos on a UK website. They're manufactured by Sutliff and It says they're America's oldest pipe tobacco company, been going since 1849. Is that true? If it is then it's a double shame that STG have decided to shut it down and scrap all the machinery. All those years of history gone😔

Yeh, for some reason my fingers have been hitting the p instead of b. And autocorrect has been wreaking havoc on my posts also.
I love some of the very bad posts I’ve made over the years. Many times I’m asking myself, was I having a stroke while typing that and didn’t realize it at the time, or did autocorrect decide not to even bother with the jumble of horseshit my meat fingers just typed

STG:
SIMPLIFY EVERYTHING WE DO
We want to reduce complexity and make it easier to drive the business by simplifying portfolios, operations and back office functions. We will simplify our IT infrastructure, increase digitalization across the value chain, streamline the supply chain and establish simpler and more efficient distribution.
Bingo ! Yet we have to switch using more competitivley priced raw tobacco for majority of our pipe tobacco

No good deed goes unpunished, especially with this crowd. Thank you for Bengal Slices. I never tried the original, but I've burned through more than a few tins of your and @woodsroad's remake. It's part of my rotation, and I think I have enough tins to make it through the apocalypse. THANK YOU!!!
Arhhh Fungal Slices! One of our more popular re-introductions from the cemetery.

I really think we should keep posting nonsensical out our ass suppositions (under the cover of wicked knowledgeable utube prognosticators).
Much more grounded than waiting to see what happens.

Can you?!
Can you what? Wash and reuse pipe cleaners? Iirc he said you could. Seemed a waste of time to me. Pipe cleaners are pretty inexpensive and in order to wash them you've got to spend money on warming the water and washing up liquid. Then you've actually got to wash them and have the little fuckers drying somewhere.

The only reason I could see someone bothering is if it's for environmental reasons. I'm surprised nobody has come up with a biodegradable pipe cleaner.

I'm surprised he just wouldn't use a reusable soft bristle cleaner you keep by your sink for things like straws.
