Mac OS. I was a Mac guy from way back. I was a Sys Admin and used PCs back in the day (read: windows nt), but I always preferred Macs. They're easy, elegant and give me no troubles. I am also an Apple Certified tech, used to do installs, tech support and even full-blown network installs.
If I had the time and money, I'd get a box and install Linux on it just to familiarize myself with it, but my career has moved away from Tech these days.

I've been a Windows user for year but I've also built a few Ubuntu systems mainly to learn. I worked for a large software company in Redmond WA for almost 10 year and was a Mac user for home but Windoze for work. I agree 100% with SmokingDragon that Windoze need to spend some time on the treadmill will all that bloat. I installed Win8 on my MacBook when it first came out and was so frustrated with it that I de-installed and went back to Win7. Win8 is a disaster.

Currently running Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit on my Samsung laptop. I have used Windows on every computer starting with Windows 95. I have never owned a Mac and would have no idea how to install Linux. I have never had any problems with my Windows OS through the years.

Various flavors of Windows for my computers, Mac for the work computer (not fond of it but that's just me) and worked with some android tablets when I set up my family's home network.

Either Mac OS X or Ubuntu Linux, depending on the computer. I love Linux, but my "main" laptop is a Mac Book running OS X. It's UNIX under the hood, of course.

Is Chrome really that much faster than IE? I have tried it 10 times. Starting to hate google as much as Apple.

Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit here. Just for the multitude of games. Am a BIG Mac fan, but more games run on microsuck products. It's a volume thing. Linux OS' are the best you can get, but they don't run the volume of games microsuck's products do. I like Ubuntu, but I haven't seen Mint; thanks for the heads up :)

@boudreaux~ You can build a Linux Minx DVD from a 32Bit or 64Bit download (If system has a Windows 8 logo, you should be safe to install the 64Bit version, but you could also try older systems with Win7 logo/that are also a few years older).
Now for your question about limitations that one may encounter when switching to Linux? Will all of the 64 and 32 bit Windows apps run correctly...You will perhaps have alternative apps on a Linux OS vs MS Windows OS (if the Apps are only built for Windows OS) but if you are locked-in to specific MS Windows Apps you have a few choices; 1. Run a Dual-boot environment choosing to run either Linux OS or MS Windows OS or 2. Run only Linux OS and then use virtualbox to install a Windows Guest OS in. I have done both type setups for others and it has worked out pretty well for them
I use ISO Recorder/Free download (on Windows OS systems) ( http://alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm ) a lightweight tool for taking your ISO images and burning them to CD/DVD. Now Linux Mint 15 is cool because you can boot and use the DVD in "Live" mode to look over the OS and get a feel for it, if you like if you can click on the Install Icon on the desktop to get started
@simnettpratt~ I had only Ubuntu systems (would have some issues with older wifi drivers from time to time but using wrappers got around that age old problem for me) in the house and just switched over everything to Mint after a few weeks of testing...very nice Linux Distro

Is Chrome really that much faster than IE
Speed is only 1 of the issues. IE is really fat and clumsy. With Chrome I sign into my google account and I have access to all of the Google services (YouTube for example) but what I really like about it is that no matter what PC I sign into, all of my bookmarks, cookies, etc are on the new computer. Since I have an iMac at home and a MacBook Air for work, this works well when I have to use a Windoze PC using Chrome. I also like that I can Skin it and use "Apps" inside the Chrome Environment. Finally, everything syncs to my phone too. To many, all of this info in the cloud is a bad thing, especially in light of the recent NSA privacy scandals. As it relates to PC and Online issues, I have no illusion of privacy. "They're watching" :nana:

I use Chrome OS on my Chromebook which has become my main computing device. I also have a laptop that I run a dual boot on with Ubuntu and Win 8.1 on it.

instymp, I switched to google chrome years ago after using firefox before that. I have always hated I.E as it is so slow. For years my google chrome never crashed but recently I have been getting shock wave crashes using chrome and it never used to do that, the browser itself still never crashes. I usually have 7-8 tabs open at the same time but if I keep my computer on for a few days with all those tabs, eventually the shock wave has issues. It never used to do that so I don't know what is going on.
In terms of speed, I have not found a faster browser than chrome.
