Ok ok ok, bare with me…
I worked at a mental hospital for a short period, and there we’re two patients that were inseparable, john and Meredith.
One day, John decided that he would jump into the deep end of the pool and sink to the bottom. But, Meredith jumped in and saved him.
The administration decided that Meredith was too sane and capable, no longer a threat to anyone, so they discharged her, and they sent me with the news.
I sat down with Meredith and said, “I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that the administration has discharged you because they feel like you are no longer a threat to yourself and others. The bad news is that John hung himself in the bathroom by his robe.”
She was quiet and didn’t respond. I knew that people grieve in different ways, but I wanted to make sure that she understood. So, I said, “do you understand Meredith? John is dead.”
She said, “He didn’t hang himself. I hung him there to dry.”
