@shaneireland since you're here, and I consider you a primary source, I wanted to ask you a few questions about this most recent Gawith Hoggarth allocation.

[1] Is this the only allotment that will be sold via Smokingpipes in the near future? Might more appear next week? Month? In the summer?

[2] Will other retailers receive Gawith Hoggarth tobacco during this recent distribution?

[3] With what regularity can we expect to see reallocations of Gawith Hoggarth to retailers? (e.g., this is all there is until more is imported in 6 months; this is part of a large import stock that will be parsed out frequently and with regularity throughout the year).

I'm just seeking a little more information regarding the planned availability of the tobaccos, as there has been plenty of speculation and rumor circulating on the internet about everything tobacco-related, but very little of it has been substantiated by primary sources (like you, for example).

*

Switching gears somewhat, I'd love to try some of the Bosun Plug, but I'm not about to stay awake until midnight while furiously pressing "refresh" in a mad dash to buy some. If that's what's in store for 2021 I'll have to pass.

1. Smokingpipes will have more in stock in the near future, but I’m not sure yet if that’s just a few weeks, or possibly several weeks. It won’t be months and months, like the last drought. There’s another order in the works and transit times will be the biggest “issue” right now.

2. Yes, as stated by others, these products have been made available to other retailers and those orders have started to ship, so it’s in stock other places, too.

3. Making these products regularly available is Laudisi Distribution’s main goal. It might take a while just because of the insane demand created by a longish absence from the market, but they will keep orders in place and will make those orders available promptly whenever they arrive in the US.

Even though I work for Smokingpipes.com and not Laudisi Distribution, I’ll say that the entire Laudisi family loves Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. products and we’re honored to distribute them in the US. We also selfishly love having them readily available and intend to keep it that way!

This has been discussed before in other threads, but the so called list of discontinued blends only applied to the U.K. market. Chris (or Rachel) Gawith explained this more fully yet again yesterday on another forum.

Thank you for all your comments. I can assure you we do have the world wide web here in Kendal. And we do try and keep on top of the comments, rumours and points made on forums and social media. I think the matter has already been answered very well by one or two commentators. But to reiterate:

- No product has been de-continued as such. We have simply decided not to hold stock of certain lines that did not sell in large amounts in the UK MARKET. However, these products are still available if the retailer wishes to order the minimum quantity. In the UK this is 5kg minimum order.

- This decision effects the UK market ONLY and not export. The export market works with different quantities and each country has different requirements with regard to packaging, labels, warnings etc. All importers in all countries have the list of all products available and can order those (so long as the minimum requirements are met). So if a product is not available it is simply because the importer has not ordered it.”

So, if you want Rich Dark Honeydew, Grasmere, Cherry Cream Flake, or anything else that didn’t show up in this shipment, send a nice email request to customer service at SmokingPipes. I did and got a very prompt response. But more is better.
I will check to make sure, but I assure you we don’t leave great blends that we could be offering to our customers on the table.

If it’s being made by the factory, we want to carry it. The stuff that didn’t arrive with this shipment is likely on order already, unless there’s some regulatory barrier to offering those particular blends in the US, which is possible. Rest assured that we will stock everything that we can. It’s just good business, but it’s also more fun for us!

Just to be clear, I never said you left anything on the table. Not everything in Gawith’s catalog is available to label (a Herculean task for a small company since every country they deal with has different requirements) and ship out at a moments notice. My understanding is that from the time LDG’s order was finalized and the time it shipped took about two months of effort by GH, working on an expedited basis.

I think LDG and SP did a great job in grabbing as many facings as they did under the circumstances. I certainly didn’t mean to imply otherwise. I think most GH fanboys (I have been one since 1985) are thrilled that it now has a distributor who has a real interest in the product.

Well-said. I only meant that FDA nonsense would be the only thing keeping us from carrying a given blend that a manufacturer is still making. And you're absolutely correct; this was a pretty huge order out of the gate and that's definitely why some of these tobaccos didn't show up this time. We'll keep working on improving both the selection and availability.

I'm just glad that our pals across the hallway at Laudisi Distribution are at the helm now. Cool stuff tends to go down when special products are in the hands of people that truly love them.

It looks like they did not received the expected new shipment as most of the stuff is still sold out. I can't wait for when the shipment will arrive.
Saw on smokingpipes.com this morning and happy brown bogie and brown twist were sold out that same day they announced the new shipment. LOL. Those are probably the only ones I am interested to try out

1. I got the email from SmokingPipes @ 12:40 AM
2. This year, I am trying to get to bed by 11 PM most days, so I saw the email in the morning
3. Ennerdale was still available in bulk, but not in tins. By the time I figured that out, Ennerdale was sold out both as bulk and as tins
4. Bob’s Chocolate ? Flake was also out - but it was not in my high priority list anyway
5. Did not see Sweet Coconut Twist
6. The high-Nic tobaccos were available- Stocked up on Dark Flake Aromatic, Dark Flake Unscented and Dark Birds Eye ? ?
I should not place an order before my morning coffee. I just realized

... Instead of Dark Flake Unscented I ordered Brown Flake Unscented by mistake

... Instead of Dark Flake Aromatic I ordered brown Flake Aromatic by mistake.

Good thing is I will have two new tobacco to try

Both versions of the Dark Flake are excellent, but IMHO this is a "happy accident" as the Brown Flake twins are much more approachable and better candidates for all-day enjoyment. It's hard to go wrong with Kendal flakes, truly.

It sure sounds like you will have ample opportunity to correct your "mistake" in the near future!
