A Good Mild Tobacco?

What is a good mild tobacco to start of with? So many different tobaccos. I am familiar with cigar tobaccos (as I smoke those) but I am sure the burn is different. Any suggestions would be great then I can start looking into a beginner pipe.

Carter Hall or Prince Albert are great starters that are readily available.

Look for an "american english" like walnut or many others, quite a few from Hearth and Home, burley and latkia, usually pretty mild but gives you other options than heavily cased aromatics.

If you mean mild as in terms of tongue bite, then McClelland and GLP has a number of blends that fit the bill. If you are a cigar smoker then I suspect you aren't necessarily looking for an aromatic blend. One that comes to mind is Telegraph Hill by GLP. It's a Virginia/Perique blend, called Va/Per for short. For something with a little latakia, Samarra is a favorite of mine. Something great, when smoked slowly (a tobacco benefits from being somewhat dry for this) is a McClelland blend designed by a wonderful man, Dr. Fred Hannah called Wilderness.

Less expensive options in bulk blends might include McClellend 2015 (Va/Per) and 2025 and 2045. You can learn a lot on tobaccoreviews.com. A wealth of insightful,albeit personal observations on different blends.

Peter Stokkebye Golden Dansk or Dansk black is good too beside Lane 1Q.

they are all bulk tobaccos so if left over it can mix with other tobacco.

Lane's LL-7, inexpensive in bulk and a little more jazzy than 1Q to my taste.

Dunhill 965, if you already smoke cigars it shouldn't be too strong, but it has plenty of flavor to keep you interested. Smokes cool and dry as well.

I would recommend Dan Tobacco's Hamborger Veermaster. This tobacco is a tasty Virginia that is mild yet not too light. A great all day smoke that is easy to rub out.

If you like sweeter you cannot go wrong with Lanes Q1 or a Sutliff Molta Dolce (think creme brulee).

For an aro, Lane 1Q is about as mild as it gets. For something with Latakia in it, give Frog Morton Cellar or H&H Mazatec a try. For a Burley, Carter Hall and Scotty's Butternut Burley are very good.

Most definitely give Wike No. 191 a go. However, it’s only available from Pipeworks & Wilke as it is their blend and it can only be ordered via by phone or by email. Carole, the proprietor, is terrific and she blends this tobacco, and many other great blends herself.
