@ron123: My Cretin comment was of course in jest, and I basically agree with everything you said. But I would just add that I think a big part of the problem is people taking essentially irrelevant things too personally and seriously (as we all do from time to time).
If someone thinks cobs are crap or that spending $6500 on a pipe is a sin, I really couldn't care less...and I can also understand how someone would be of those opinions even though I don't share them.
I just wish things like that were all we had to worry about.

Just show me one person who has made out buying pipes as an investment. There are none. Yes, thank heavens some of our members make money— I hope good money— in the retail, repair, wholesale or re-sale of pipes.
Now, as I think I posted earlier, most of us own or can point to pipes or whole collections that were bought at far less than they are worth today but investments?? No way.
