Once again the season is upon us. My wife did a fantastic job decorating our house this year so I'll get some pics up later in this thread. Please do feel free to post your own.

For tonight's story(s) I'm enjoying some C&D From Beyond in a jack-o-lantern meer by Kenan with a glass of Kelt VSOP Cognac. My tamper is a skull meer by Yanik. I've been saving the first use of both the pipe and tamper just for tonight.

Tradition dictates (if 3 years constitutes tradition) we start with the classic "The Raven" by the master himself Egdar Allen Poe. Here are my favorite versions:

Version 2:

Version 3 (for fun):

So sit back with your pipe and enjoy.

Not big on Halloween. I would participate more if they were giving out airplane bottles, but alas! Minors. With kids off to college, and living in 55+ subdivision, no kids dropped by last year. Hoping for the same unfortunate experience this year. Might sit out on the front porch just to scare neighbors taking night hike., but that might trigger cardiac arrest around this neighborhood.

Quoth the raven "eat my shorts".

I give out candy and cans of soda. I have a special cooler with beer for parents that want one. I have a neighbor who was 2 lines, one for kids and one for adults. Kids get candy and adults get jello shots.

Please feel free to post stories you like in this thread.

The last one for me tonight is probably my favorite scary story. Not necessarily the best but my favorite. The author does a superb job setting the scene, or rather painting the scene if I may. Also, the narrator does a phenomenal job and has a great voice for this particular story. Nothing gorey, just great suspense on mood:

I'm not big on fancy carved meers but.... that pumpkin head has got to be one of the best I've seen in a long time. Congrats on being the proud owner.

Halloween, bah, humbug!

Last year my wife went to a relatives house for a Halloween party and I had some work to do at home and didn't want to have to be running to the door all the time. So, I took a very large bowl and filled it with 5 pounds of assorted bite size chocolates and put in on the front stoop with a sign saying. "Please take 3 pieces. Happy Halloween". As I worked in my office I could hear kids coming and going out side. After about an hour my curiosity got the best of me so I took a break and went to see how much candy was left. You may have guessed it... ALL the 5 pounds of candy was gone and they even stole the bowl! The fact that the bowl was gone tells me that someone early on took it all and needed the bowl to carry it away.

Ok, two can play trick or treat. This year I'm going to put out another big bowl with a sign. But there's going to be a twist. There won't be any candy in the bowl, just some empty wrappers and a couple more on the side walk for effect, that's it!

Happy Halloween you greedy little shits! :LOL:nnnn

That is the coolest meer I've ever seen. Maybe that's just the Halloween spirit talking, but seriously, I'm jealous

Halloween always takes me back to when I was in 6th grade and I was to go out and Trick or Treat for UNICEF. I hated asking people for money, to this day if I am assigned raffle tickets to sell I buy them, lol. I was not shy about collecting the $.40 a week for the M-F newspapers I delivered to 86 homes for some reason, I guess they owed it. Anyway, I disappeared from the house for an hour or so, snuck back in with my empty carton and filled it with my own loose change so my mom wouldn't know I didn't do any soliciting. Never really got into costumes or asking people for candy, haha, but my kids really got into it and one still is nuts about Halloween so I loved the Halloweens when our kids were still little kids (and my wife was crazy about making costumes from scratch - TinkyWinky, Anakin Skywalker, a bumblebee, witch, you name it, so that was always the highlight). UNICEF was featured on "Lassie" - I saw it in reruns, lol, and Lassie wasn't afraid to ask!

I have some free time tonight so it's time for a pipe and more stories.

Tonight I'm enjoying some Dan Tobacco Devil's Holiday in a scarecrow meer by Yanik with a glass of DeLord 25 year old Armagnac:

Here's a great story that is incredibly well written although the author may have thought about the subject of murder a little too much. The narrator does an excellent job and his voice works superbly with the story. This is one of my new favorites.

Here's a dramatized version with Vincent Price & Claude Rains:

There's even a Hitchcock version of it available.

I was going to go to bed early but instead said to heck with it and instead popped a tin of C&D Haunted Bookshop Cake.

Now enjoying said tobacco with a glass of Kelt VSOP Cognac in a meer called "Satan" by Yanik:

Starting of with a very creepy and disturbing story called "Satan's Circus" by Lady Eleanor Smith:
