It was a great show. I’ve never seen so many pipes under the same roof. Lots of people giving away free tobacco. There was no space, though. It was impossible to walk past someone looking at a booth which created long lines. This also caused pressure to “move along.”

We actually like that we packed the house. We'll use up more space next year and make more use of the outside patios.

The packed house was good for a party but an obstacle for shopping. The main issue was the raised area. If you just put one row of booths on it next year that would be optimal, IMO. Awesome show with a pipe following me home.

I like the idea of incorporating the outdoor areas more for next year’s show. Having the space upstairs to sit and enjoy a smoke was an added benefit for this year’s show. I absolutely loved that aspect. Overall though, this was a great upgrade from the previous location.

I 100% agree. It was very hard to get to the booths and visit with the vendors. I made one attempt at making the rounds and left. I was able to buy a pipe but I probably would have spent more if it wasn't so packed. Good news is it looked like a great turn out.

The Texas Pipe Show was a great first pipe show experience for me! I went thinking I would only spend 2-3 hours there, but ended up getting there shortly before they opened it and left shortly after they closed it - 7 hours! I thought James and Alvin and the other men (don’t know anyone else’s name) did a great job of putting together and managing the show! The dance hall venue seemed like the perfect setting for a Texas show. Regrettably I only made it around the tables 1 time, and even then I think I missed a couple. However, my main goal in attending was to meet other smokers and just take in as much of the event as possible. This was the first time I had ever met any pipe smokers, and I was quickly and delightfully absorbed into conversations with them.

It was great to meet well known carvers like J. Mouton and Trey King, and all the Texan carvers that came to the show. I especially enjoyed meeting “the legend” tobacconist John David Cole. I was also thankful to spend some time with Tom Kuhn. I appreciate all that he does for the pipe community.

I was fortunate to be able to participate in the slow smoke, as a late entry. I didn’t disappoint, being the first to go out at the 17 minute mark! My prize? I giant foam cowboy hat, 1,000 matches in a wooden box with a Texas Pipe Show logo on it, and a t-shirt! That was great! Next time I’ll learn to use more then one match in that one minute-to-light timeframe.. I was told I broke the record in having the longest time in being the first to go out! It’s all about the small victories!

I didn’t win anything in the raffle (only purchased one ticket), but it was great to see all the wonderful donations provided by the very generous pipe community! My wife came with me and she could care less about pipe smoking, yet even she enjoyed it - minus the smoke part! Yeah, her throat was feeling it in the morning. Overall, I had a great time and look forward to returning next year! I think expanding it outdoors will make it even greater!

Yeah, we may want to do the slow smoke out there. I wouldn't want to put any vendors outside though but we can utilize the pool table room.

It was great meeting you and chit-chatting during the slow smoke. And as you now know, first out doesn't mean you're last and seriously this slow smoke was the longest slow smoke we've ever had and the longest anyone went without going out at nearly 20 minutes. Most shows its 5-10 minutes someone goes out.

It was also the first slow smoke where we had not one but two guys who lengthened the smoke by just smoking through the cob (not that they were trying to do that).

It was great to meet well-known carvers like J. Mouton and Trey King,

Lol, the bastard baby if Nate King and Trey Rice had a kid. I know, so many people its hard to keep the names straight.

Oops...sorry Trey. Yeah, I have a hard time getting my own kids names right 😂
