Don't know about Dallas, but if you're ever in Austin try 6th Street, east from downtown. It's crazy every night but especially weekends.

Isn't the show close to Dallas? (Midlothian Texas) We had Austin on our wish list for the music, so if Austin is nearby, thats better (no real desire to go to Dallas) On the map, Austin looks farther away.

You would be correct that Austin would be another multiple hour drive from Dallas (and the pipe show). Would highly recommend staying in either Arlington or Midlothian instead of Dallas, but if you are going to stay in Dallas proper I would suggest near Deep Ellum part.

Any Texan can tell you the secret. It’s all about patience and time. It’s no different when it comes to smoking a pipe. That’s why the Texas Slow Smoke Contest is one of the highlights of the show. Though, we gotta warn you. We do things a little different here. There will be hootin’. And probably some hollerin’ as well. This is a contest to be sure but it’s also a celebration of the hobby. Our wonderful hosts at Cabana, Rhonda and Stephen Rast, have worked with a local business - nay, a true local institution - to bring our show indoors and into a larger space. To call the Oasis a "bar & grill" feels a bit silly, honestly. The Oasis has been a part of the local scene for ages and is a true Texan, red dirt country dancehall. There seems to be a limit to how many can be in the competition but the max has not been reached. There are some spots reserved for day of registration but I assume it's first come first serve of course.

We're a day away from the Texas Pipe Show! Tonight around 630 PM is our unofficial gathering at Tobacco Cabana in Cedar Hill.

I also just got in some last minute items - here is one of the prizes for the slow smoke donated by Pete at Briarworks.




And one of our out of town pipe club members(Rendatorade Nate) did these leather pipe stands for the Texas Show. He'll be doing more if anyone wants them - the texas flag ones are 20 bucks. Plain is just 15. He's also done the PeteGeek pipestands.
