The remaining half ounce could be taken up by any of the bulk blends.
I have broad tastes and could be happy with many different mixes, but this is what I would choose today.

I ran my cellar list and the numbers in generic form are roughly:
7 Virginia flakes

6 VaPers (and VaBurs)

5.5 English (Latakia containing, Scottish, etc)

1.5 Other
This was a good exercise. And very much confirmed what I suspected. Total cellar is 65% Virginia blends.

Jeez, how could I do this? I'd be out of tobac in a year and a half. I smoke about 15 lb a year. Now, if you said, "you can only replenish when you get below 200 lbs....."

True. I suspect that they were more respected than loved.

Interesting thought.

McClellands made a couple of my favorites, although I notice that I didn't list any of their tobaccos in my post. My favored blends do change/rotate every 6-12 weeks though (which I think I've noted many times).

I admit that I took them for granted, didn't reach for McC as often as others due to low nicotine content, and just assumed they'd be around forever. The old standards I find aged and neglected on B&M shelves often just become background scenery for me. The unexpected end of an institution certainly changed my perspective.

Same for me. I'd visit my B&M and see the rows of McClelland on the shelves and think about picking up one of them to try someday and just never get around to it. I did buy the Cheers and some of the Grand Orientals, but not the Numbers. Maybe it was something as shallow as a blend being titled by number that kept me from investigating it. Finally, last year, I decided that I needed to at least investigate some of these, so I bought a few tins of each. Even when I became aware of their impending closure, I didn't consider stocking up as I have enough tobacco as it is and am completely satisfied with what I have. I bought a few things to try out and did stock up on the 40th, a little 2015, 2010, and a little more 5100 for blending fun.

I'll play. McClelland vs. no McClelland. If it's just what's currently available, I'd do:

2# FVF

2# OGS

3# Exotique

2# Caravan

2# Kensington

2# Blackhouse

2# Magnum Opus

2# Fire Storm

2# Escudo

And a pound's worth of mixed tins of Bengal Slices, Regent's Flake/Temple Bar, University Flake for "change of pace."
But if I can say 'open ketchupy' and gain access to Ali Baba's cave full of lost McClelland tins, the picture looks more like this:
3# Christmas Cheer

1# Dark Star

2# Samovar

2# Exotique

1# Caravan

1# Kensington

1# Blackhouse

1# Wilderness

1# 3 Oaks Syrian

1# Magnum Opus

1# Fire Storm

1# Beacon Extra

1# Tudor Castle

2# Escudo

with a mixed # of FVF, Bengal Slices, Regent's Flake/Temple Bar, University Flake for "change of pace."
