If you are going to sell it don't smoke it. If you are going to keep it for the rest of your natural life fire it up and full steam ahead. Hang saving it for posterity. Its a sure thing somebody will smoke it someday. Who better than you?

Thank you for your advise and insight gentlemen! Very well argumented oppinions both pro and contra.
I still havent decided yet. Guess will take some time.
Or maybe I will smoke it only if a very special occasion arises.

What I find interesting is, that the inner walls are smooth and same as the outer finish. I think I never saw that with a modern new pipe.

Me...I wouldn't smoke it. I have plenty of other pipes to smoke. I don't have an unsmoked 100+ year pipe. I'd be happy having it in my collection just to admire.
