this is awesome.

Almost as hilarious as this one i spotted last week.

I sent the seller a message to let them know something was amiss, they answered "ok" and never changed their listing.

hahaha.

There is a small percentage of people out there these days who are VERY wealthy and would probably be willing to part with 16,000 Federal Reserve Notes in exchange for anything with true, reliable collector's value...while said notes are still worth something.

That thing would have to be big enough to live in before I would even think of purchasing it, and come with a Harley parked in the bowl...

Hans:
That is a very special pipe worth many thousands. It helps you keep track of how well your flame is doing.

I'm glad to see that Mike chimed in with a little perspective. Four and five figures for pipes from many makers is not at all uncommon, and more to the point, I don't think this guy is crazy for asking that (to me a bit extreme) price. He's probably fishing the Asian market, hoping for a status seeker with plenty of dough.

A pipe is worth whatever someone will pay for it . I wish I had a few Bo's in my collection ! But I could only buy it if I didnt have a wife , lol .

@mike well stated! The party I found laughable was the "professionally smoked" part stated in the listing!

I kind of agree. At that price (and taking what I've read here about Bo to be true) it really ceases to be a pipe and is more like a "slice of pipe carving history" as said above.
I almost laugh that it has been smoked before (!) as this is not a "useful" pipe to me... but more like art, or an investment, or a collectible... Imagine hanging a picasso on your refrigerator LOL! That's what smoking a pipe like that sounds like to me. (of course if anyone wants to drop that much on a pipe and smoke the hell out of it, they sure may do what they please).
I think there are worse investments to make than that pipe... though $16k seems a little high, given it's present value (of what I've read above). It's not much an "investment" if you only make your money back after holding it for 10 years.
But as a piece of art that someone will no doubt love and smile at when they look at it everyday, maybe it's a steal.

Good point.
So 16K sounds outrageous and you’d never pay that for a pipe. Great. Enjoy the pipes you own. Enjoy the blends you prefer. IF you wish to discuss pipes in this realm with any credibility at all, don’t you think you should have walked the walk, before you talk the talk.
I appreciate your POV Michael. I think it's easy for some of us to laugh at the price because it is, at it's very essence, just a device to smoke tobacco out of. Still, while I personally think that's an outrageous price to pay for any pipe, I don't blame the seller. If the market will bear that price, I say by all means ask for it.

A pipe is just a device to burn tobacco, so lets all smokes cobs... Yup, let's bring it all down to the lowest common value.
That's an extrapolation of my comment. I said at it's "very essence" a pipe is just a device to smoke tobacco out of—I wasn't implying that we should all submit to the lowest common value. I can agree that there are certain intangibles that can make a pipe more valuable and sought after than others.

I think this is starting to get out of hand. One thing we can all agree that it's an amazing pipe and a rare one too. The part that we can't agree about is price. But none of us should judge the views and opinions of others! So gents lets all shake hands have a pint and relax lads!

It's all good. I think it's why forums exist - to express opinons. I think Michael brings a very unique perspective and I am glad to consider his opinion.
