I order it from P&C now. I started with CBW but have converted to 1-Q. It smokes great, has a mild flavor and a great room note. It's one of those "can't go wrong" blends for me.

despite a valiant effort in the past six months or so, I'm still relatively inexperienced.
I'm sure there's another aromatic out there that would suit my fancy moreso. I just haven't had it yet.
don't go on a search for the "perfect blend", like the Treasure of Sierra Madre or something. Enjoy your 1Q and experiment a little here and there.
In the weight training world, we used to make fun of "chronic routine changers", or folks who would change their training program week-to-week, based upon some recommendation or another. They never stuck with one thing long enough to see any benefit from anything.
I think the same thing applies to pipe smoking. Folks who buy 10 different tins a month. They have an overstocked cellar and no idea at all of how to appreciate any of it.

Great advice and extremely true. I went through a period where I was so busy buying tobacco, I never really stopped to enjoy the great blends I had. I see a lot of pipe smokers go through this phase and some don't get out of it.

Finally did it. I pulled the trigger on ordering some 1Q. I was putting together a TAD to bulk order the other four 7 Seas blends and needed a few other things to get the free shipping. So, I pulled the trigger and threw in a 2oz. sample of 1Q. Definitely will post again once I have a few bowls.

Call me crazy but 1Q is the worst tobacco I've ever put in a pipe. Unless its changed, i remember it laced with sauce and prop. glycol. So wet with glycol it would never change (viscosity). But... I know it is very popular. To each his own. Maybe my memory fails me.

You're not crazy Lazydog. I feel the same way. If tobacco was wine, 1Q would be a big box of white zinfandel.

This isn't at all what I've experienced with 1Q. What I've received recently isn't wet at all, and whatever they use as sauce/casing is so very mild and very nice. I can't speak from experience of it over the years, but this isn't the impression I get from it at all. Does anyone know if it has changed over the years, or do you think that lazydog might be thinking of some other tobacco?

im in the small minority that doesnt like 1Q. i bought a couple OZ's of it because everyone raved about it but i really didnt care that much for it. found it hard to smoke no matter what i did with it and i only have a limited number of pipes to smoke it with so maybe thats the trouble. either way, its not gonna be in my next TAD. just my 2 cents.

I revisited 1Q over the last two weeks. I loaded up my pouch with it and let it dry out quite a bit. I think that dry time is the key. It was great for a walk with the dog. Nothing fancy, a little sweet. A charring light, tamp it and one more light. Smoked just fine for a good hour walk. Not one complaint from the dog either.

After my first bowl lastnight here's my first impression: great blend! I ordered it in bulk for just a 2oz sample and it wasn't overly moist or anything. It lit very well and burned nice and evenly. The flavor was much like the pouch note, a vanilla custard with a hint of cocoa. Didn't give tongue burn/bite and smoked pretty cool. Definitely see how a lot of people use this as their go-to. Waiting until I finish the sample to decide if I want to keep a mason jar or just order a few ounces here and there.

I ordered 1Q based on others recommendations years ago. I still order it. I had some today when I was out in the garage. Very nice smoke. Burns cool and mild right down to the bottom of the bowl. It's a nice switch from my Balkan blends. Cold beer goes good with it to.

I had some in a cob today while I was gardening. The 1-Q/Cob combo is hard to beat while you're out pulling up turnips and washing greens. I had a big mug of iced coffee to go with it. Happy as a pig in slop.
