I'm extremely grateful to the generous and thoughtful @brooklynpiper for a tin of Dark Flake, a tin of Commodore Flake, and four different whole leaf mixtures which he whipped up for me!

Dark Flake is in my top few tobaccos of all time, but my mason jar of it is almost out, and I had no more. Receiving another tin of this no-longer-available tobacco made my day!

Commodore Flake I have never tried! One of the most fun aspects of pipe smoking is trying new blends. I like a good English this time of year, and Jim and others give extremely high praise to this one -- I can't wait to try it!

And the whole leaf blends made for me are a very exciting prospect! I'm really looking forward to seeing what they're like!

Thank you, Avery!
Very nice!

It is with a deep sadness that I write this post…

I sent off a wonderful package to my secret Santa match and have just received word from the local post master that it wasn’t able to be delivered. The captain black grape I sent was accompanied by two quarts of homemade spermaceti, which I’ll admit, was shoddily sealed. According to the post master, the cardboard package was dropped over the recipients’ gate and the entire package shattered like glass upon impact.

Hope the lawn survives…
