I wonder whether the ouroborian character of this phenomenon may lead to an implosion. It's like a family tree in some parts of WV -- the sort that looks like a telephone pole; or, like tourism to see the history of tourism in a Rick Steves episode on the 17th century Grand Tour .
Self-referential inside jokes are usually born of happy accidents (e.g. som besths) and have a finite shelf life, and although these things by definition cannot be planned, we could plan new opportunities on which such happy accidents (and ensuing inside jokes) may or may not happen. For instance, a PMSS Zoom meeting, or some sort of in-thread game, etc.
If nothing else, criticisms of these suggestions can pad the page count that much more, and for that you are welcome.
