Took a Risk on a Vague Ebay Listing......It's a Barling...

It is indeed a true Barling pipe. What a great find. The shop was Skillington of Leicester. I did have another Barling from the same store, but it was a good bit later at 1929. A mere youngster compared to that treasure - lol.

    Just Ordered Bewlay 1912 Pipe

Troy - would you like to fill the position of my copywriter :D That description and those images certainly hit a sweet spot.

    Just Ordered Bewlay 1912 Pipe

Hi Allan Your pipe is on its way to you and I hope you gain much enjoyment from it. If you have any problems, please send me a PM. Bewlay were the largest chain of tobacco and pipe retailers in the UK at the time your pipe was made - the pipe having been given their branding. I have just written...

    Question About Peterson Systems

This is just some of the tar that was scraped from the well and shank of a 1920's System pipe bought in from eBay, and this was after it had a hot alcohol treatment. I sell a lot of Peterson System pipes and they are all cleaned and sanitized to perfection. Just a quick tip I learned from an...

    Define Your Forum Persona

Haha Al - I thought the very same thing when I read that. Some great additions to the categories too. As I am trying to keep up to date with other social thingymabobs, I suppose a relevant word is #keepumcoming :)

    Define Your Forum Persona

I just came across this old blog post by Trever Talbert which made for some fun reading http://talbertpipes.blogspot.co.uk/2007/03/pipe-forum-insta-guide.html I will quote the text below. Well which one are you?

    Spring Has Sprung!!!!!

Also, I seem to remember the weather being similar at the start of March last year. By the end of March we had 14 feet snow drifts! But I will take those 2 weeks in July again - unspoilt sunshine is a rare occurrence.

    Spring Has Sprung!!!!!

A little birdie told me you were back on Flakey. I just have a minute to poke my nose in. We have been having bright days here too. That is the best I can describe it. A little annoying when the radio starts to play "sunny" songs just because the sun has poked out for a day or two. Though I...

    Bye Bye Ebay

Ebay took this course of action because too many people were being scammed with false 2nd chance offers, payment required by Money Order. It happened to a losing bidder on one of my partner's listings when she sold diamond rings. The young girl and her boyfriend had been saving for a year to get...

It looks light gray on my PC monitor as well Zack. I think this picture is a good basis to work from.

    Raising The Smoking Age

An excellent point. In the UK what was the point in banning "smoking clubs" (except for the only smoking club that exists in the UK in the Houses of Parliament!). At the British Pipe Smoking Championship last year, the event was held in a marquee away from any buildings. The ridiculous part of...

    Baked Erinmore

I take it those temperatures are Fahrenheit? For those in Europe this is 85 celsius.

    Photographing Pipes

Thank you. I think I read this some time ago, but being photoshop it whooshed straight over my head! :) Now I need to take the time to learn this program which I think will make things slightly easier. My initial shots do not have the blue hue in the background of Zak's, more a light gray - so I...

Trip To UK/Dubai-Tobacco Not Available in North America

Looking at the first few in your list, I would definitely add the Murray's Warrior Plug and the Germain's Rich Dark Flake (only in Bulk). A couple of the Peter Stockebye bulk blends only in the UK are Bulwark Flake and Irish Slices. Another excellent Germain blend is the Brown Flake.

    Photographing Pipes

White balance seems to be the most difficult thing for me to correct also. Photoshop scares the hell out of me and I am using antiquated PaintShop Pro. Woodsroad, the edit you made to Zak's picture makes all the difference. How long did this take you to do? Could you point us in the direction of...

Warning: Fraudster on eBay Selling Counterfeit Eltangs, Possibly Castellos Etc.

You know, I have just had a look at his Peterson pipes too. I never paid close attention to them thinking "Who would forge a Peterson". But I have to say, the hallmarks on the silver collars look suspect to me. He never shows good clear photographs of the hallmarks, but I am sure I saw one...

The Last Post - and "Her Indoors"

Chris, I have no doubt your departure will leave another hole in the forum to be filled. The threads you started were always interesting and entertaining. I can fully appreciate your thinking as I too must re-assess my participation as I have no doubt it affects my productivity, especially when...
