Are Any Borkum Riff Pipe Tobacco's Good Brand for A Newbie to Pipe SmokingToTry?

There are plenty of comments about Borkum Riff and other tobacco options but I wonder about the other part of your question. If you got sick to your stomach when you tried a pipe before it makes me think you might have been inhaling the smoke. Some pipe smokers do inhale but most don't. Pipe...

    Where do you smoke?

Usually I smoke in my home office but when I have the house to myself any place other than the basement (too little ventilation) is free territory. When serious thought is needed I share Sherlock Holmes's opinion that thick air helps me think and it can get pretty thick in my office.

How do you smoke so much?

On the days I work at home I go through five or six bowls (small to medium size). Sitting in front of a computer makes it easy. As others have said, smoke slow and drink plenty. The only times I have problems are when I get into a Burley mood. I love the taste but anything high in Burly...

I already knew I did not like the whiskey blend but when there's free tobacco I'll give anything a shot. I took a pouch of "Original Mixture" and it turned out to be a nice smoke. The trick seems...

    Your absolute worst all-time smoke

Mixture 79 is definitely the worst tobacco I've smoked but sniffing it was enough warning that I was not too surprised. The worst smoke was the shock when I tasted how bad Bob's Chocolate Flake was.

    Leather wrapped pipes? Newbee question.

I have a leather wrapped Savinelli Canadian that my Dad bought in the 70's. I'm not a fan of the look but the pipe is very light weight, smokes great and the leather does seem to help keep the bowl from getting hot to hold. Neither he nor I ever did anything to treat or take care of the...

    University Survey on Pipe Smoking

I appreciate that you kept the survey short. However, the question about what price range we pay for pipes should have been a set of check boxes instead of radio buttons. My price range is modest compared to a lot of people but it still covers at least two of the options. Even people who...
