    Can Someone Explain Dutch Aromatic?

Thanks for that, I think I will jar it. it's been in rotation, but I'm only smoking it to refresh my pallet, and it's pricy for a sorbet...

    Pipe Lighter Reccomendations

not quite a fresh thread, but I have to ask - has anyone used the XIKAR Pipeline or that general design? I know I've seen it before, but never used one (and this one has a tamper tucked inside!) I like the look of it, but don't want to spend that much money if a zippo insert is better. In the...

    Can Someone Explain Dutch Aromatic?

Thanks guys. The WO Larsen SVMixture actually sounds very appealing, I'll look into it. The MB Mixture I think has far too much Virginia for my tastes, I doubt very much I'll ever finish this tin. $14 for 5 bowls would be expensive, though ;) I'll have to find a way to store it well now that...

    Can Someone Explain Dutch Aromatic?

Funny, I saw a tin of that MacBaren Vanilla Cream Flake at my close tobacconist, but got the Scottish Mixture instead because the vanilla flake was $18 (and the Mixture was 12) but I see online that it's only $6 at pipesandcigars? Also funny that I found a better tobacconist that's almost as...

    Can Someone Explain Dutch Aromatic?

so the dutch or danish aromatics are not more likely to taste how they smell, then? I want to smoke a pipe and have my mouth taste like I'm smoking a hookah ;) (sometimes... I'll keep my burleys and classic english, thanks :) )

    Captain Black is Lacking

This was fun to read :) It was probably my first or second pipe tobacco I ever tried, but I can't imagine going back to it, even though I really like aromatics... I have to smoke outside, so CB has no value there. In a living room, it's quite nice, once in a while, but outside (especially if...

    Can Someone Explain Dutch Aromatic?

I suppose what I am familiar with, as far as aromatics, is "American" style (a la Captain Black & company) and of course they are gooey and wet and steamy and harsh when biting. Do Dutch aromatics not have casings, only toppings? Or the other way around? Or it's more than just black cavendish? I...

    Chewing Pipe Tobacco

Redman is by far the sweetest non-foodstuff I've ever put in my mouth, I think...

    Chewing Pipe Tobacco

Funny, I've only ever thought about chewing aromatics - never thought to put any english in my mouth.... Maybe a nutty burley... Good to know not to try it! I tried chew more than a couple times, but it never took (though I LOVED the taste of Copenhagen long cut... I loved the spice more than...

    Tropic smoke

I think that's called a hookah ;) Wonderful thing in the summertime... Wish I still had mine... Then again, you don't get the same kind of funny looks from your in-laws that you do when they see you with a pipe...

Missouri Corn Cob - Natural Ozark Hardwood Maple Pipe - Diplomat Bent

From what I read, the MMs come in Maple and Cherry, but keep in mind these are just the stains, not the trees. They are made from the same wood as the stem, which is (Maine?) Birch. Also, if the off-taste you're getting is at the end of the bowl, it's most likely the stem - if you've smoked cobs...

What is Your Favorite 'Drug Store' Brand Pipe?

Does Medico not fall into this category? My first pipe was a Medico that my wife got me as a gift (so I don't know the price but I can't imagine it was more than $30...)

Help Me Identify This Tobacco Smell?

It does not dominate at all, and that's what's taunting me - it dominated the first opening of the tin, because there must have been a single strand of it on the paper label inside. Once I brushed off what was on the paper back into the tin, the smell in the tin is quite sweet and farm-like...

Help Me Identify This Tobacco Smell?

That's 2, so I guess I'll try to hunt down someone who carries blending perique to smell it, if not sample it... I like to go easy on the N so I suppose I'll be hunting for a low-nicotine Perique blend... I don't feel so optimistic suddenly...

Help Me Identify This Tobacco Smell?

If this is something I have been having a hard time discovering, is it likely real Perique from St. James Parish? Or is Perique leaf hard to find in general?

    Why Inhale?

I know I'm new, and don't want to come off as thinking I know everything, but I have a bit of experience and would like to add something very important here. Let me start by answering the OP. I've smoked on and off for about 10 years now, in one form or another. About half the time, probably (2...

Help Me Identify This Tobacco Smell?

I recently acquired my first tin of Mac Baren mixture (scottish blend) and when I first opened the lid, I had one of those "Oh, my God..." moments. I need to salt/spirit my briar and/or get a new cob before trying it again, but I know I like at least ONE of the 34 tobaccos in this blend...
