    Tobacconist in Galway?

Hope you visited the Crane Bar in Sea Street! I'm going to Galway and Connemara in May, 2019 and plan to spend a couple of nights lookin' for ol' Jack and Garda Noonan (first iteration, of course). I fell madly in love with that show...until I watched the third series.

    Any classic Irish tobaccos?

To Warren, thanks very much for that reply. Dingle is high on my list of where to stay for the trad sessions and the sheer beauty of the area. A pipe and a pint is my idea of a perfect afternoon too! Galway is still a maybe at this point, based on time available, plus the desired itinerary of...

    Any classic Irish tobaccos?

Thanks for the tip. I'll see if that one's available. I'm basically at the point that I have more tins of tobacco than I will ever finish, so now it's just a question of getting something as a souvenir from my travels, and having a bowl here and there in the year following my voyage, to bring...

    Any classic Irish tobaccos?

So I've heard. And yes, I will go to Condor as well as Peterson's shop. That's Day-one's agenda, in fact, since I will need to buy a throwaway lighter for both my pipe and cigars. I've heard very good things about James Fox. I'll be bringing my cigars with me, but I always like to buy one or two...

    Any classic Irish tobaccos?

Oh, I know the proper way to draw a Guinness, and will be doing it myself at St. James's Gate. It's a two-step process at minimum, and three if done correctly. I heard about the smoking ban in pubs, and honestly I'm good with it. I'll be spending a fair amount of time outdoors, and if the...

    Any classic Irish tobaccos?

Hoping to spend a night in Galway. We'll be spending at least 3 days in Counties Clare and Kerry, and being a huge fan of the Jack Taylor movies, if I can finagle the schedule to allow a night there I'll heat to Powells for sure.

    Any classic Irish tobaccos?

Interesting! I might buy a pouch over there to take home, but since I won't be bringing a knife with me to prepare a plug (I travel with carry-on luggage only), I'm probably after something in a different format. Or is plug tobacco the quintessential Irish pipe tobacco? I might just bring a...

    Any classic Irish tobaccos?

I agree about Germany, and they supply a good number of blends to both Austria and the Czech Republic it seems, too. I bought a tin of Vauen Bavarian Blend in Munich last summer that I'll probably get to soon, and the tin of Prague's Mixture that I bought at a local shop there was manufactured...

    Any classic Irish tobaccos?

I'll be visiting Ireland this summer, and in addition to adding at least one new Peterson to my collection I'm curious if there's a famous or favourite local blend that I should look for in the shops. Ideally something not readily available in the U.S. I know there are a bajillion Peterson...

    Legends of today

Greetings all. I'm a relatively new pipe smoker. I'm in my 50s and started with cigars in 2010, so I'm still quite overwhelmed on many fronts. When I've chatted with fellow pipers over the last few winters many old-timers are waxing poetic about 759 or BSOSM, etc, and how this company or that is...

    Info on Travanti pipes?

I was very surprised to see how nice the grain was, for such a very reasonable price, too. And as I said, it smokes better than anything else I own, including the one pictured above.

    Info on Travanti pipes?

Yes, I've been Googling this piece, along with its companion, a larger flat-bottomed pipe. Not quite a poker, not a billiard either. Again, same markings: Travanti on the left side and Italy on the bottom of the stem. Nothing else.

    Info on Travanti pipes?

Hello all, As I slowly build up my collection of pipes, I happened to find a nice bent, saddle bit pipe in my local B&M and all that's inscribed on it is the name "Travanti" on the briar and "Italy" on the stem. It was about $70, looked nice and felt good in my hands but clearly wasn't a major...

    Constant relights, gurgle and heat

So, today I decided to smoke a bowl of Frog Morton, and I let it set out for about 2 hours in my dry living room. The pipe packed and smoked quite nicely and I was able to get down to the very bottom of the bowl for the first time. I had enough left over in the dish to re-pack and have another...

    Constant relights, gurgle and heat

I took a closer look at the el-cheapos. One is a Molina R104, which is somewhat similar to my Peterson in aesthetic design; the other is a little bulldog from Lane pipe, who's bowl appears to be tapered at the bottom. These two are quite new--both under one month. I bought the Peterson in winter...

    Constant relights, gurgle and heat

Hello all, I'm coming into pipes from cigars and I'm having many of the typical newbie problems. I'm trying to follow experts' advice but not having a great deal of success. Let me indulge here briefly. The wife won't allow cigars in the house but tolerates aromatics. I've also tried a couple...
