Very nice setup, I also buy and sell pipes, to improve my collection. My set up is -not- nearly as nice as yours. The set I’m currently working on is going straight to ebay in the end. It’s in the category “show me that” on this site.

    Chasing Grain

I too have a love for fine beautiful grain. Nothing says “keep and smoke me“ like a pipe with exceptional wood! If I came across this piece, it would absolutely go in the collection.

To restore or not to restore… that is the question.

These two are going to be pretty straightforward. Clean up the top on the yellow bowl a bit more and try to improve it anyway I can. For the Filto, I’ll be polishing the aluminum stem a bit, try not to rub more of the monogram off, clean the vulcanite and removing any tooth chatter I can find. I...

To restore or not to restore… that is the question.

The kaywoodie didn’t go as planned, some more paint chipped off during the cleaning and polishing. Also the paint was a bit thin in some spots. The end result shows a little more wood than I wanted but I guess it has a nice worn look. I don’t want to remove any more paint as I think it will...

That pipe has some nice grain to it! Are you going to restore it any further? do you plan on keeping the stinger intact? I like that it has a gripping ring to tighten it down.

To restore or not to restore… that is the question.

Going to do both of these at the same time. Both pipes are in pretty good shape as is, but I want to clean them up a bit more and do a light polishing. I’m going to sand the kaywoodie so it makes everything look a little more even, take some of the rough edges off the chips in the paint, smooth...

Same! this Is the only fancy “perfecto“ stamp I have ever seen. Maybe a limited or special make? could be a very small company or custom pipe not related to any common name brand.

looks a hundred percent better! I think the rounded bowl can work for this pipe… probably, i might do a little more to it… maybe not😬. she got some pretty nice grain, for what is considered a low end pipe.

To restore or not to restore… that is the question.

Ok then! lets do some top of the bowl work on this Medico. Then I’m gonna give everything a polish. I think I’m going to round the edges of the bowl to see how that looks. I might take a little more off to make it flat, but let’s see how it goes!

    Pipe Identification

Got this while on vacation in Santiago chile at a gift shop that happened to have some used tobacco pipes. After getting it back to the states and cleaning it up a bit, I noticed the grain is quite exceptional! Strait grains all around the lower half and Birds Eye around the top of the bowl. The...

I think we should try to use this post for all -PIPE IDENTIFICATION HELP- so a person doesn’t have to start a new thread for a specific pipe Each time. the title “pipe identification“ would Be a good thread for that, in my opinion.

    Lighters vs Matches

Ever use them zippo inserts that’s for lighting a pipe? I see them every once in a while, was wondering if it’s more of a gimmick.

    Lighters vs Matches

The dirt cheap matches are the ones you gotta look out for.

    Lighters vs Matches

On very very rare occasion… I must admit, I have had A bit of match head get stuck in the ol beard, just sizzled out each time, but still not a fun experience.

    good one 👍

    Lighters vs Matches

I mostly use matches. I think it’s just a really old habit from when I lived deep in the Trinity Alps of Northern California many years ago. I’d save fuel/gas lighters for when I really needed them, like for lamps and candles, wood stove and such. I would often use small Sticks or slivers of...
