    An Odd Duck Dunhill?

Well, I’m not a professional photographer, but I do what I’m told…. Here’s a couple of more pictures on black background instead of blue and I tried under-exposing the image. I’m using an Iphone, a paper clip, and a pen light. So it is what it is….. I think they came out clearer than the...

    An Odd Duck Dunhill?

Thank you. I saw that article. Seems most of the Black Briars are shells. I appreciate the information. I’ll keep searching Google for more info on this one….

    An Odd Duck Dunhill?

Thank you for the reply. That makes sense. The rim definitely needs a LOT of attention. I think I’m going to send this one off to a pro… it has the potential of being a true “Black Beauty” in the right hands…. Just not mine (hahahaha) I’d muck it up for sure.

    An Odd Duck Dunhill?

I picked this up in an auction lot and was intrigued as it came with an original Dunhill box, guarantee certificate, and brochure advertising Dunhill tobacco… Not to mention the the Black Briar and gold band… it has potential to be a real beauty.. Being a novice, I put the date at 1978. I don’t...

***What Are You Smoking, Nov. 2024?***

C&D Crooner today…. Read other reviews from another site that panned it as “rough around the edges” and so on… First time for me. I LOVED it. I may have rushed a bit and smoked it right out of the bag, but still only had one or two relights. The other reviews that said, “smoke it in a...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Been reviewed before, but I finished a bowl of bulk Habana Daybream ($6/oz) from Finck’s Cigar in Helotes, Texas. A good, non aromatic blend that evokes a calm day down at the shore. Hints of salt, wood, earth, and spice with absolutely no bite. Very enjoyable. No waxy aftertastes and goes...

Your Best Cheap Pipe; Here's Mine; Let's See Yours!

My trusty Daytonian…. Got it an an auction lot, so it cost about a dollar…. I took to it because I’m a NASCAR fan…… Great smoker…. Beautiful burl…. Keeps getting darker and better tasting each smoke…..

Questions - Staying Lit; Packing: Relighting; Ashy Taste

Don’t know if it’s right or wrong, but at about the 2/3rds mark, sometimes I get a loose white ash on top of everything. I simply turn the pipe over and let it fall out and then tamp lightly before a relight…. Don’t knock it…. Just let it fall naturally….. then do a very light tamp and relight.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Just finished a nice long, slow bowl of Nutty Irishman that I picked up from Finck Cigars in Helotes, Tx. A nice mix of hazelnut, a hint of Irish whiskey, finished with Baileys…. All blended well and none overpowering the other. I’d recommend cooler mornings or evenings or a winter day. I’m...

I apologize…. Sent to early… Any and all input is well and as always, thanks in advance to those who have been down this road before as I’m just getting started.

    Need Ideas and Advice

Don’t have but a few $$$ invested as it came in a large lot…. But I hate to trash a Dunhill… I’ve cleaned all the cracks, but I doubt it’ll ever be a smoker again….. thinking about colored epoxy or something ? I just don’t know…. Or trying brown CA and getting her back to as close to original...

    Chesterfield CPF

Thanks for the input. I’ll research on re-bending that stem. (And maybe taking some of those tooth marks out!)

    Chesterfield CPF

This came in a small lot I bought. Haven’t done much with it. I did a little research and figured it’s old-from the KB&B and the CPF … not to mention the odd stem. Just cleaned it up and applied a mixture of beeswax and carnauba. I’m such a newbie, I’m afraid to try anything with this one….

New Member from the Texas Hill Country…

Just found the site! Great info here! Lots to learn….Have had a Dr. Grabow and several Comoy’s since the mid 90’s. About to retire and decided to start a new hobby of restoring and collection estate pipes and gifting them to friends.
