    Winter Dandelions

My mom tells stories about her mother sending her out to pick dandelions to make salad. I saw dandelion jelly at a store the other day and intended to buy it, but got distracted and forgot.

    Massachusetts Generational Smoking Ban

Well, I know very little about the issue, but Needham Mass. was the first town in the US to raise the smoking age to 21, eventually the rest of the nation followed. Also, the Make Smoking History site takes a lot of pride in the state's "progressive" tobacco regulations. I also gave the podcast...

    Massachusetts Generational Smoking Ban

I don't know much about this other than what I heard on The Cigar Authority, but they seem to know what they are talking about. Their point is that Massachusetts has led the way on all the various tobacco regulations, and the rest of the nation eventually follows suit. So, if it does pass there...

    What are You Reading Now?

Finally reading Bleak House by Dickens. Enjoying it so far, about 1/5 the way through.

    What are You Reading Now?

I'm not sure I have any special insights into the series. I thought it was fascinating and very well written. I certainly see some deeper themes involving the impact of symbols on our identity, and themes around the sacramental nature of the human body. That being said, I also feel sure I don't...

    Bulleit Bourbon/Rye Gripe.

Over the years I've encountered loose corks, snapped corks, and disintegrating corks. I now keep a gallon baggies with a bunch of corks from old bottles in case I come across these scenarios. I always seem to have an appropriate sized cork to replace the malfunctioning one.

    What are You Reading Now?

I plan on starting this one in the next couple weeks. It's been on my to read list for about 15 years, time to finally tackle it. Hopefully you are enjoying it.

    Neal Stephenson.

I loved Anathema, and really liked Cryptonomicon. I thought Quicksilver fell flat, and I abandoned that series. I really want to read Seveneves, but there are just so many things to read.

    Maximum Musical Result using Minimalism

What a beautiful song, I had no idea it existed. I've always been a big Pink Floyd fan, and in large part due to Gilmour. I didn't realize that it is his daughter singing in this. She has a great voice. I hope they do more work together.

    What are You Reading Now?

I am just finished up Shadow and Claw by Gene Wolfe and will be starting Sword and Citadel today. I've been interested in reading this series for 25 years and finally picked it up. It is pretty fascinating so far. It is confusing and incomprehensible at times but at no point have I lost faith...

    What are You Reading Now?

I like Sanderson, he has great ideas and is a good storyteller, though I do find his writing style only just serviceable. It works well enough for him, especially at the speed he writes. The Mistborn trilogy was really great. I was enjoying the Storm light Archives, but kinda abandoned it after...

Hemp Twine for Lighting Your Pipe

I started using it because I liked the idea, the nostalgia even, of using matches. However, I always smoke outdoors and the matches always went out immediately. The hemp wick is decently wind resistant, so it appealed to me.

Hemp Twine for Lighting Your Pipe

I used it for a while and really liked it, and then I dripped wax on the outside of one of the bowl of my pipe and ruined the finish. I quit using it.

VaPer Blend + Dark Kentucky Suggestions

I'm no expert, or even very good at tasting notes, etc., but to my palate Pennyfarthing is more perique forward. Being a shag cut it can vary greatly in taste depending on how slowly you smoke it. At its best I find it fruity with a nice umami background note. If I puff too fast it gets muddy...

Caldwell Paradise Lost Maduro. This was delightful.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Partagas Black. This was the first cigar I ever smoked and I loved it. Well, I still think it tastes fantastic, but this stick was absolutely frustrating. It needed constant touch ups and had a very tight draw. After an hour of fiddling with it and only about half way through, I gave up.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

I have not, this was my first Four Kicks, though I do have a 2023 Mule Kick on hand. I'll keep an eye out for them.
