    Pipe Smoking Literature

Good afternoon everyone, I've just finished Rick Newcombe's 'In search of pipe dreams' and found it to be a great read for both information and entertainment. Now that I've wetted my beak in pipe literature looking for recommendations for more reading non-fiction material around our great hobby...

    Tobacco Rotation.

This question is really targeted at the pipe smokers that only enjoy 2-3 bowls a week. Do you; Open a tin of tobacco, jar it and smoke it before opening another. I find a tin last in the region of 5-6 weeks this way? Or: Open a tin smoke a bowl, jar it. Then repeat for different tobaccos and end...

    In Search Of Pipe Dreams

Should really have asked here about this purchase before committing but I have just sourced and purchased a used copy of this book in the UK. What are peoples opinion of it as I had to spend as much on the book as I do a tin of tobacco. Hoping a worthy sacrifice.

Pipe Shape Choice. Idea Vs Reality

When I started on the pipe smoking journey 6 months ago and even now I had a concept of how great it would be to emulate my literary hero character's hobby. I am a huge AC Doyle fan and loved the iea of looking like Sherlock Holmes pondering his latest mystery. Therfore my first two purchases...

    The New Generation.

Big fan of your show and listen every week from Scotland but need to declare I am a latakia fan, sorry. Anyway wanted to share a moment I shared last night with my son. Too often we tribalise nicotine/tobacco use ( pipe , obviously the best, / cigars / cigarettes/ Vapes). However when I went...

What does the English "Smoke Free Target of 2030" Mean?

Title edited for all caps and brevity. I have seen the UK government's smoke free target of 2030 repeatedly quoted in the mass media over the last couple of weeks. Does anyone know if this is a target to get people to volunteer the giving up of tobacco or do they actually plan to legislate the...

    First English Blend

Well, after 2 months in the hobby smoking aromatics I thought I'd have a go at an English Blend. Bought a tin of Chieftain Blacksmith and got excited about trying something new. Wow, I'm still not sure to how to describe the experience. The aroma was so different with such a strong distinct...

Time to Taste the Benefits of Cellaring?

I have recently started cellaring tobacco tins for two reasons. 1. Prices are never likely to drop so I see it as an investing for my retirement when funds will be less available. 2. To experience what I read is a new depth in taste complexity of my favourite blends. I have read a number of...

Newbie Learns the Hard Way to Dry Tobacco.

Thought I would share this in case anyone else having the same issue. I got my first new pipe a month ago, a Savanelli straight, and started smoking. I tried both balsa and charcoal filters but found 3/4 through the bowl I was having to draw way to hard, like a thick milkshake, to the point I...

    Savanelli 6mm filter question.

I bought a new Savanelli arcobaleno yesterday and absolutely love it. However my question arises from the salesperson being very adamant that only the 6mm balsa filter should be used. I prefer charcoal filters and I am wondering are these interchangeable despite what the shop told me.

    Greetings from Scotland

Been smoking a couple of months now and still can't master the breath/bellow method. Having a blast trying though and absolutely love the community. Such a chilled group of people who just slow down the world for a couple of hours a day.
