    Let's See That Knowledge

Gawith Hoggarth do a seasonal reserve for Christmas. Round tin.

    Hi

Yep - Gawith Hoggarth, not Samuel Gawith.

Strong Blends, Gentle on the Throat and Sinuses?

Not quite. They morphed into one blend years ago. And all but Kendal Dark have been discontinued some time ago for the UK and rest of the world. DBE was carried on for the USA market only, whilst sales of Kendal Dark were increased and people were aware to buy Kendal Dark.

    Hi

It is?????? There is a Samuel Gawith range of tobaccos, there is a Gawith Hoggarth Exclusive range of tobaccos. Two different things.

G&H Rumors to Confirm or Dispell

Already explained a number of times.

    Hoowee, GH Kendal Kentucky!

We didn't. Kendal Kentucky was discontinued a while back. In the UK and rest of the world only Kendal Dark has been sold for a while. It is only in the US, it was decided to continue with DBE for a while longer until we could get the word out to switch to buying Kendal Dark. As will be evident...

Trying Out Gawith Blends and Sharing My Impressions

Auld Kendal is our hand rolling range and yes therefore it s much finer cut. There are government set rules as to how thin/thick hand rolling and pipe tobacco can be and taxed differently. The is completely separate to the pipe tobacco range.

Trying Out Gawith Blends and Sharing My Impressions

As I have already stated, the stalky bits became unavailable and so eventually were not included. Whether that was gradual or a sudden change I don't know with out grilling the production team, and quite frankly they are all very busy trying to get the large American orders made. SG Lakeland...

Trying Out Gawith Blends and Sharing My Impressions

The Kendal range is our shag range and absolutely no plans or end goal to fade this out. Its one of our biggest sellers. All other shag type mixtures sold in the USA are not our "normal" cut, hence why we decided to try with our normal cut there and it was termed Vintage cut. A while back we...

Trying Out Gawith Blends and Sharing My Impressions

Kendal Dark has always been a shag cut. There is no "vintage cut" of it in the UK. The 'Kendal' range of pipe tobacco is our shag cut range. But please note all other mixtures in the UK (except the Kendal range) are what American's term vintage cut. We don't have a vintage cut in the UK, it is...

Trying Out Gawith Blends and Sharing My Impressions

Overtime certain types of leaf become unavailable, leaf sources change, tobacco changes (climate, soil, where its grown etc)........

Searching for UK 1970's Lakeland Tobacco Documentary

There are quite a few videos on our YouTube channel and we hope to grow this in the not so distance future.

Trying Out Gawith Blends and Sharing My Impressions

Over time similar blends can often homogenise into basically the same thing. This is what happened over time with Dark Birds Eye, Kendal Kentucky and Kendal Dark. Over time the three blends became very very similar until they were the same but were being sold under three different names. We...

Trying Out Gawith Blends and Sharing My Impressions

Kendal Kentucky is no longer made under that name, its just Kendal Dark = Dark Birds Eye.

    Rouseco Buoy Gold

Well I guess this is for the government inspectors to decide. That's a legal issue.

    Rouseco Buoy Gold

Again I think there is a difference in terminology here. I would absolutely agree with your statement if we were talking about roll your own/hand rolling cigarette tobacco. RYO/hand rolling tobacco is a different product to pipe tobacco, made for a different purpose. But the original post was...

    Rouseco Buoy Gold

Price! Taxes! Certainly in the UK, you cannot have flavoured RYO. Only plain. Packaging - only plain packaging in the UK. Pipe tobacco will be more moist. RYO tends to be fairly dry. Type of leaf used, depending on the pipe tobacco. The processing the leaf goes through - again depending on...

    Rouseco Buoy Gold

Difference in terminology. Here in the UK we have RYO (hand rolling for cigarettes) and pipe tobacco. They are taxed differently and the government states what constitutes a hand rolling tobacco versus a pipe tobacco i.e. how thin/thick the tobacco can be cut. The "thinnest" pipe tobacco...

European Pipe Tobacco: Additives or No?

And you can't just go adding anything you like, its fairly controlled and any flavourings have to abide by regulations i.e food grade usually

    TAD Acquisitions 2024

They are in recyclable plastic trays with a sealed film, in a nice box. And have been for a while now. This is only for flakes and twists as it ensures these products hold their form better as they used to get crushed and broken in bags.
