    Reaming Pipes

OK, here we go pipe smokers. I have a small wire bonnet, about the size of a dime that I put in my cordless drill and have a go a stubborn cake. I use the wire wheel till it's close to the wood. Then I use 120 grit sandpaper till it's smooth and clean. Be careful if you try this. Keep shining a...

    Wet Wet Wet

If your pipe is gurgling , then you have to be careful not to spit in it, make sure your tobacco is dry, and exhale a puff of smoke back through it after you draw. Also try a straight pipe, especially a cob to fix wet smoking.

Relighting After Cooling - So Good, Possibly Bad?

Same here. Pipe or cigar, I make sure I have time to finish before I light it.

    Cutting Back

I have quite a few blends on hand. My problem is that on occasion I get too deep in the bottle and stay up too late shopping pipe and tobacco sites. A week or so later a parcel arrives and I'm surprised by the contents which I haven't the slightest memory of ordering. Like Christmas morning! But...

How To Loosen A Stuck Stinger.

If you want to keep the finish, try baking it in the oven at 200 degrees F for about 8 to ten minutes. Put it on a cookie sheet which you line with spinach leaves, tomato leaves, or any edible leaves to protect it. Then twist it counter clockwise. If you aren't that worried about the finish...

    Dottle and Stummel Absorbency

Chasingembers is right. I have every pipe shape imaginable and can get a decent smoke out of any of them. Some better than others, no doubt. So either I'm the luckiest pipe collector on the planet when it comes to quality drilling or some other factor is affecting your enjoyment. See these other...

    DIY Stem Pointers?

Get the stem making thing going on and I'll send you some of mine to restore. Could use a knife or two as well. No downside.

    Dottle and Stummel Absorbency

I keep lighting and tamping mine till it all comes out gray like cigarette ash. That said, I smoke pretty dry by using the breath method, thoughtful packing, and keeping my pipes clen and dry while at rest.

The 'Stiff Pipe' - Publicity Stunt? Design School Project?

You can easily find pure briar Chacom or Stanwell pipes that look great and smoke even better for around a hundred bucks each. So would you rather have a complete rotation of them for your $900 to 1300 or this plastic experiment thing?
