    Smoking indoors?

I often smoke my pipe in the living room at night, it’s nice to sip on a pipe while watching a movie or TV show with the family. I tend to stick to wife approved blends with a pleasant room note, like RLP-6. No special air exchange besides the regular AC unit and an oscillating fan. Any time I...

    Falcon Negatives?

I didn’t care for the unconventional look when I first began smoking, thought them odd, perhaps eccentric even, but nothing that appealed to me. Then, I found one for under $10 in an antique store, and figured why not. Turned out to be one of my best smoking pipes, and the odd look vanished...

    Grabow Royalton Line Discontinued?

I’ve been looking for the Dr. Grabow Royalton line, especially in the bent bulldog shape, but they seem to be out or stock most places, only obscure Amazon links seem to still have them marked as available, and those sellers are rather suspicious, was the line discontinued or something?

    Ordered Some Aromatics

HGL is going to have to be my next tobacco order, one of my absolute favorites, and as you say still very friendly in aroma.

    Ordered Some Aromatics

Well, the RLP arrived today, and I’m on my second bowl. Its wife approved, though she says she liked my MacBarren Plumcake just as much. I‘m overall impressed, finding it to be smooth and flavorful, retrohaling or a French inhale allows the aromas to further be enjoyed. The much repeated...

Does my Briar Pipe really Need Resting ?

I sometimes smoke the same briar a few bowls a day for multiple days in a row, just wiping the bowl out and running a pipe cleaner through it every couple bowls or whenever there is a buildup of moisture. I haven’t noticed any harm to my pipes from it, only that there can be a trace more...

    Ordered Some Aromatics

I have enjoyed that genre quite a bit, particularly Lane HGL, it was actually one of the first blends I tried that impressed me with both flavor and easy smoking qualities. Got the RLP this time because I figured that I can always add a bit of one of my heavy english blends to it to make a...

    Ordered Some Aromatics

So back when I first started smoking, I started out with a pouch of Captain Black Black Label (basically Lane BCA I now know), then I switched to MacBarrens of some kind, then going back to CB, this time in the original white label variety. My taste was underdeveloped, and I couldn’t really...

    Soulless Tobacco Containers.

I mostly buy bulk, and then jar it myself, so this issue escapes me for the most part. That said, I do find the whole warning label thing overdone, and your tins look worse than I remember. Last time I bought a tin was some MacBarren’s Plumbcake, and it had the old style art. If they’re worried...

    Falcon Twist Stem Availability?

They are probably a bit of an acquired taste, I never used like them that much until I found a vintage one at a antique store for like $10, I figured why not try it, and now it’s one of my favorites. The easy cleaning, and dry cool smoking won me over.

    Falcon Twist Stem Availability?

Not in my experience, but the base of the bowl can get warm, I hold mine by the wooden bowl though, so I have no issues holding it even if smoked a bit too hot.

    Falcon Twist Stem Availability?

Does anyone know of the twist stems are out of production, or if not why they seem to be out of stock everywhere? I’d like to pick one up in all silver or the silver and green color, but can’t seem to find them in stock anywhere.

    Disappointed with Match Balkan Sobranie

After following most of the advice here I have mixed up the bag of BSOMM throughly, dried it slightly on a tray, and found it to be much more enjoyable now. I now find it to be more balanced and much more like my favorite Balkan II, just slightly less sweet and with a bit more complexity...

    Disappointed with Match Balkan Sobranie

I am inclined to agree with you, I mixed up the BSOMM as suggested by @mingc and it was improved significantly, however the Balkan II is still far better IMHO, perhaps it has a bit more Virginia in it for sweetness or something but I find it much more enjoyable. That said, the BSOMM is much...

    Disappointed with Match Balkan Sobranie

that’s an excellent suggestion, I’ll try that, thank you.

    Disappointed with Match Balkan Sobranie

I’ll probably try smoking a couple more bowls of this stuff to see if it grows on me, if not I’ll set it aside until I get to 100 posts and can trade tobaccos on here.

    Disappointed with Match Balkan Sobranie

I recently bought 8oz of Sutliff’s Match Balkan Sobranie Original, and was quite surprised to find it was not at all enjoyable to me when I smoked some las night. Previously I have been smoking Sutliff Balkan II and really enjoyed it, same with Lane HGL, Sutliff 504c, Match 20, MacBarens...

    Help me identify these?

Thanks for the info, I wouldn’t have known that the cob was possibly that old and potentially rare, I guess I’d best not relegate it to the beater status of a normal cob. If anybody knows more, I’d love to hear, and in that same vein if anybody collects these old cobs, let me know, as I would...

    Help me identify these?

I was just given these two pipes by a friend, he didn’t know anything about pipes, and figured I’d enjoy owning them more than he would. The first one is a very small meerschaum, with sort of a cutty/pickaxe shape, and an odd two piece bowl design, can anybody tell me more about this pipe, the...
