    Black coating inside bowl...

Actually, I read somewhere that Brog actually CHARS the pipes with some kind of a machine. Unfortunately, I read this before I knew what it means and paid little attention to it or where I read it, so I don't know how reliable this information is... Also, The stuff in my bowls is definitely...

    Black coating inside bowl...

Just a little update: I'm saying this with nothing to compare to, but I didn't feel the coating on my Brog... Today I'll try the briar (I smoked my pear), from which I cleaned the stuff, and report back if I see any difference :]

    Black coating inside bowl...

I already have 2 cobs which I love :] But I wanted to try a wooden pipe... mso, I realized after I posted this thread that I stumbled into some controversial territory and read a little about it. The thing is, as a novice, I don't know if I'll be able to tell the difference.. so I figured...

    Black coating inside bowl...

Thanks, everyone! I guess this is the carbon layer I read about... I'll try to smoke with it and build a cake on it....

    Black coating inside bowl...

Hello! Just received my 2 new pipes! They're Mr Brog's, one briar and one pear, and I was wondering: Inside the pipe's bowl there's this black coating... it's definitely not the wood, but something that was added... Anyone knows what this is..? Thanks!

    Cutton residue?

I use something labeled "Atomic". Was the only thing available at the tobacconist I visited... I don't know if it's the cleaner as it is the pipe.. I use a corn cob, and a rather small one.. Could it be an issue of a small stem?

    Cutton residue?

Hello :] Just cleaned my pipe thoroughly for the first time, and I noticed the pipe cleaner left some residue in the stem and bowl... I cleaned up the big chunks I could see, but I guess there's more... Is that OK? Plus - how do I prevent this from happening next time? Thanks!

    New + Questions!

My last purchase from them included 4 ounces of tobacco (1Q among them), two pipes and a Czech tool. Not a small package, but it got here in about 3 weeks, which is pretty fast for Israel post..

    New + Questions!

Thanks for the tips, everyone! @paulfg : Shipping cost is a pain when living outside US. Out of principal. I don't pay more than 14 the cost of my order for shipping, but I did find out that smokingpipes ships globally with a reasonable cost. @gordebak : Thanks for the welcome! As I said -...

    New + Questions!

There are several tobacco shops around the country, which I should visit.. But I need to make a day of it (they're all a few hours drive), and I really don't know how good the tobacconists are there (if they're not 21 years old boys who were just looking for a temp job). Plus, Israel, among it's...

    Problems with my pipe experience

Fairly new to this myself, but had some luck with packing. Don't worry about relighting - it depends on how you smoke, tamper etc. You might be packing too tightly, so next time try to pack more lightly and see how this feels. about the flakes - had a few of these myself, and I don't see a way...

    New + Questions!

Hello everyone! Picked up a pipe (Corncob: MM Morgan) about 2 weeks ago, and smoked about 5 bowls until now. Gotta say - it's amazing. I've never been a smoker: never touched a cigarette (it really disgusts me) or smoked drugs, but I occasionally enjoyed a cigar with a friend. Now comes my...
