Hello :]
Just cleaned my pipe thoroughly for the first time, and I noticed the pipe cleaner left some residue in the stem and bowl...

I cleaned up the big chunks I could see, but I guess there's more...

Is that OK?

Plus - how do I prevent this from happening next time?
Thanks!

There might be a few tiny pieces when I clean mine. I just blow on them and they're gone. If you have large chunks maybe you should get a different brand. What kind are you using?

I use something labeled "Atomic". Was the only thing available at the tobacconist I visited...
I don't know if it's the cleaner as it is the pipe.. I use a corn cob, and a rather small one.. Could it be an issue of a small stem?

Haim you can also look for some "bristle" pipe cleaners. They will help pull any cotton pieces out of the stem and shank. Especially after the pipe has a certain amount of use. At that point you can start using a little alcohol on the cleaners occasionally.
