    Things I Found Thrifting

"I see," said the blind man to his deaf wife as he picked up his hammer and saw.

Reiner gold and Orlik golden pipe tobaccos similar flavor and taste counterparts

If you like the citrus of OGS, you might like G.L. Pease Laurel Heights. It's definitely got some "orange" in there but it's not at all overpowering. I also love Peterson (formerly Dunhill) Flake.

    Zippo Pipe Lighters...Opinions Please!

I love my zippo, and I have a pipe insert, but not the traditional pipe insert. The way to go is the Zippo BUTANE pipe insert. I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet! https://a.co/d/2Hgp3vz

***What Are You Smoking, December 2025?***

Ever hear of Guymon OK? My great-grandpa founded it. There are some great family stories...

Aged LTF in my Don Carlos Montana Bent Apple. The dog is in front of the fire, dinner is in the oven, and I'm reading one of the great classics: "Bambi." Life is good.

    Is This Charatan Worth It?

I'm not planning on buying it at this point, but I thought the Perfection was the second highest grade?

    That's what I thought too.

    Is This Charatan Worth It?

I think you're both right... I didn't even think about looking for the CP nomenclature, which appears to be missing. It looks like a Perfection Freehand though. Last I heard, @georged was not taking new repair jobs..?

    Is This Charatan Worth It?

Okay team, what we have here is a (probably Lane or Reuben era) Charatan's Make that I've had my eye on for a while on the online flea market (ebay). As you can see from the pictures, the stem does not align with the shank. It appears the tenon might be bent. You can also see there is a small...

OGS in an Il Ceppo bent billiard dedicated exclusively to this blend. Coffee on the side (although it pairs better with Earl Grey and a little lemon).

    Vulcanite Stem "Bath"?

Yes, I believe this is the stuff! But as I said above, I think I'll pass....

    Vulcanite Stem "Bath"?

Thanks, everyone, for your input! I agree with @georged and @sablebrush52. If I have to sand ans polish after using a solution, I may as well just sand and polish it to begin with and leave it at that.

    Vulcanite Stem "Bath"?

There is a member who does a great job restoring pipes and uses some kind of "bath" to remove oxidation. A while back I asked them what they used and they told me, but I can't find that thread. (If this was you, please jog my memory!) What's the best way to remove severe oxidation from a stem...

***What Are You Smoking, November 2025?***

Mixed the dregs of Burley Morning Pipe with the dregs of Dunhill Mixture 965. It's delicious. My wife's family would mix their leftovers on Friday night and call it "Elmer Fudd." Maybe I'm onto a new blend!
