I recall reading nearly 30 years ago, of all places Cigar Aficionado, that the large bags are made of a type of plastic that is not as permeable as regular plastic bags. Supposedly the contents will stay fresh for up to 5 years.

Not that I would leave it sit around in a bag for 5 years.

Mylar is more stiff than plastic.
Mylar IS a plastic.

This hurts my effing heart. More than a couple of us were a bit concerned when STG bought Mac Baren and Sutliff and it now looks like our concerns were founded.

Wish to the Lord that I were rich and could buy these companies myself and keep them going, and keep their employees working! A bunch of us need to all win separate lottos and then pool our millions together and buy all tobacco and pipe manufacturers that we can and keep them alive!

Sh*t, I hate this crap. I hate seeing valuable companies get shut down because their parent companies don’t find them as ‘valuable’ as we do, and I hate that good men and women lose their livelihoods as a result.

Some guys have spread sheets or computer programs.
I have a drawer an self as well. Im soon going to move the stash to the basement on a nice shelf and orgainze it.
Its dry and a nice constant temperature.
Im not going for a wide cellar. Im going for as deep as I can afford and bring in. Obtaining is the more diffiuclt part.
If I can get a lot of about half a dozen blends Im good

Yeah I don’t even know how you guys with the STONKING big cellars keep track. When I dig into my drawers, about 20lbs of tobacco overall, I sometimes go “oh, didn’t even remember I had that!”.
Quite easy. Short version ;-) Storage - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B7PjeJk6Zb4P67cmjqjdNnfr-gto7TYhLqxD0IyxTHQ/edit?pli=1&gid=0#gid=0
Just doing it every purchase and opening of the next tin.

About MB/Sutliff - I'm worring about bacco source for blenders much more than about the tins. I smoke C&D & Kopp production mostly, so I can spend the rest of my life without MB tins or pouches - pound of DTRC, CBRC and ODF (each) would be enough for me for yeaes. But I'm afraid that Peretti and Wilke I consumed "for desserts".

I have a small footlocker and a drawer in a filing cabinet. The blends I am actively smoking are kept in a desk drawer where I can easily reach them.

Spreadsheet. Google Sheets is convenient because I can use either a work station or my phone. I made an inventory yesterday, and like you it's about 20 lbs.

That’s the job of an Oxonian valet I found on Facebook Marketplace. He’s not very intelligent of course, and I have to cane him for the frequent mistakes he makes. Honestly I think that’s why he took the job. When my arm gets tired my wife takes over. When we’re both tired we pull in any random person off the street. Yesterday it was an Amazon delivery guy. Before that it was James Woods.

STG has been on a tear. If Im not mistaken they also bought out some popular cigar brands over the last few years.
