***What Are You Smoking, November 2020?***

Just landed at an RV park in San Antonio, TX. Wife and kids in bed, and I'm enjoying the evening weather with a bowl of John A's - Luxury Flake in a Straight Kaywoodie - Dublin. Been a while since I've been on the site. Hope all is well.

    Cob Over Briar

I'm a big fan of cobs, although my ownership count doesn't reflect it. 4 cobs, and probably 10 briars? I'll tell you this, I have briars i've never smoked, and my country gent is probably the most used pipe in my collection. It's beat up and used, but smokes great. I think if I had to...

Boy Oh Boy Pipe Tobacco The Affordable Luxury

I love the hobby. I started about 6 years ago, and haven't looked back. I see lots of new people that start the hobby and are in awe of some forum members cellars. Yes it's like amassing tools, like in the movie Grand Torino when the kid is looking at Clint Eastwood's characters garage and...

    Back of the Cellar Finds

Holy crap...it's been forever since I've logged into the forum. Took about a 2 year break(not from smoking, mostly from logging in) but nice to see the new site. Hope all is well, and everyone is staying safe. Nice to see Chasing Embers' cellar. One of my favorite things is seeing peoples...

Dunhill Ranking - Which One's the Most Iconic?

I would say EMP is the most iconic and talked about by pipers. I know when people are new to the hobby they ask for recommendations for english blends to try. EMP typically tops the list.

Are C&D Bulks Not As Good?

C&D makes up most of my cellar, I'm a huge fan of the tins AND bulk. If I had to smoke C&D and Pease blends from here on out, I wouldn't be disappointed. I would miss Bengal Slices though, oh..and Condor ;) Some of my favorites that come in bulks are: Mountain Camp Billy Budd Pegasus...

    How BIG is your cellar?

I love looking at photos of peoples stashes of tobacco. I have around 45lbs, scattered in jars for bulk and a couple of totes for tins. The most of my collection comprises of lat heavy and American english blends. I used to go pretty hard a few years ago, but I cut back on the smoking and the...

    Smokey Eyes

Yes...the key is the amount of eye shadow you use, and how to fade it out to the edges.......Oh wait... I mean...no I typically don't have problems with my eyes watering.

Have all of you (or almost all) started on cheap aros?

My first foray into pipe smoking was a cheap mini cob from a mall tobacco store called "Stag Tobacconist" that was about 30 years ago. I bought some 1oz sample of a "rum" aromatic that burned the crap out of my tongue and left me wondering what all the fuss was about. Fast forward to about 5...

    Everyday no brainer smoke

It's funny, there are so many blends out there, but you look at this thread and you see lots of responses for Carter Hall and Prince Albert. It just goes to show you that simplicity really does go a long way. I smoke both CH and PA on occasion, in fact I'm smoking PA right now. Smoke what you...

Finally Bought Some C&D Blends - Any Good, Bad, or Ugly Opinions?

C&D makes some great blends. Lots mentioned here that I smoke regularly. Mountain Camp, Billy Budd, Morley's Best. About C&D sending blends dry, it's something they've mentioned before in posts. I think you might find some on this forum from either Sykes or Jeremy. They prefer to ship...

Check Your 2012 GL Pease Navigator

I've been meaning to crack a tin of Navigator, that one is on the list for next in line. I think I have a tin from 2014.

Suggestions for Orientals - non Latakia

Three Friar's doesn't have orientals in it. Or are you just mentioning blends that you've had that dont include Latakia? C&D's - Orion's Arrow is good for a Va/Per with the oriental addition. Capt. Earl's - Honor Blend as well.

    Cellar Storage Ideas (Pictures)

That first photo of all 16 tins of Gaslight was awesome. Don't get me wrong, it was the hook that got me to scroll down and the rest of it was friggin magic.

    Quiet Nights by GL Pease

It doesn't. Nothing compares to Gaslight. :D I kid... I like Quiet Nights, and while everyone is scrambling to get their scraps of Penzance, I get my fix with Quiet Nights, or C&D's - Star of the East Flake for a comparison to Penzance(Not that you asked) Usually in stock so it always wins in...

Seattle Pipe Club - When Did Their Tins Change?

The top one being called a "tin" is questionable, as most of its components were paper. The integrity of such "tins" for aging have been talked about in many forum posts.
