Pick Axe Pipe I Made For A Friend

That is a nice pipe. Looking at the plateau on the top of the pipe, if you cut that smooth I just feel like it would have amazing birdseye.

    My Newest Pipe

Congrats on the new pipe. If it is a good quality pipe, I don't think you paid too much for it. In fact I think you got a bit of a deal for a highly carved pipe. I have seen meerschaum go for much more. The biggest issue on pipes like the one you got is the knuckles / joints of the extra long...

    New Pipes! Great Money Makers!

Maybe its just me, but I don't think I would ever blow another man's pipe.

    Latest Rad Davis Addition

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, lol You and gwtwdbss make me sick. I wanted that brandy but hesitated because it doesn't have the cumberland stem. As I was mulling this over half the pipes disappeared. What do you know, an hour later I show up here and there they are. lol O well, half my problem was going...

    Pipe Smoking and Humidity

I live in Houston and have humidity almost year round. I am an aromatic smoker mostly, and when the humidity is bad, I can leave out a high quality aromatic to dry for a few days and it still seem moist. I have to help it along with a desk lamp with the tobacco in a glass bowl. I now prefer my...

    What's a Retort

The guys above have it right. Using a retort helps a lot. I recently cleaned / unclogged an estate pipe. Probably used close to 100 pipe cleaners and did the salt & alcohol treatment twice. I still had to retort the pipe 3 times before it came out clean. Everyone here is generally nice and I...

Mac Baron's HH Old Dark Fired

Thanks Locopony. Sounded like a real honest review. I have a few tins in the cellar. Been waiting for me to forget some of the hype so I can be honest with myself about it.

Mini Lather - Will This Work For Pipe Making

Thanks lonestar. That was exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. The only turner I know turns pens and recommended the lathe in my OP. I had doubts on space and hp against briar. I think I will save for the jet.

Mini Lather - Will This Work For Pipe Making

@pipebow, do some research and you will find your answer, otherwise thanks for nothing @gecko, that is same thing I was thinking. I guess I just needed someone else to tell me.

Mini Lather - Will This Work For Pipe Making

I am looking to get a lather to start making pipes. For those of you who make pipes / turn wood...do you think the lathe from the link below? Or should I just buck up and get the $600-700 Jet. http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/6/1/27/121/-/4568/Apprentice-812-VS-Mini-Lathe

    Dunhill Blasphemy?

Who cares. Its your pipe now. Do with it what you want. Despite what some people think, Dunhill is not some holy brand where you will burn in hell for not worshiping it. To me, any pipe looks better with a cumberland stem. 5 out my last six new pipes come with cumberland stems. BTW, you got some...

    Any "Archer" Fans

I love that show. My wife isn't a fan and with a one year old who is quickly becoming a parrot, I have to be careful with whats on TV. Didn't know it was on Netflix, will save it for a day I am home sick from work.

I'm Going to be Out for Awhile.

I had mine taken out after finals one semester of college. The stress caused them to cause more pain. My tip...come day 3 or 4, a food processor is your friend. The last thing you want is to get a piece of food stuck in there. Good luck, it was incredible when I got mine removed and healed.

Peterson 2013 Seasonal Blends Are In Stock

I agree. I especially like the Special Reserve tin. I have thought about saving the Christmas tins over the next several years and framing the tops of them in a big collage. Make my own pipe art.

    Help With Samplers

    1) There are a few blenders / manufacturers that give out free samples. If you really want them do a little research on the PM forum and you will find them. They have been discussed at length. 2) Just about every B&M is willing to fill a bowl or two from their bulk selections while you are in...

Brigham Aurora Borealis No Vacuum Seal...

Thanks for the warning, but unless you get another tin of the same tobacco and have the same issue, I consider it a one time occurrence and not indicative of a recurring problem. The breaking of a vacuum seal can happen in shipping due to the freight companies delicate handling of packages or...

Brigham Aurora Borealis No Vacuum Seal...

I think I would have contacted the retailer I bought it from and gotten either my money back or another tin.
