New Pipes! Great Money Makers!

When I was in college in the 60's. I went to the local B & M's and put up a sign similar to this. " College man will break in your new pipe for you, Your tobacco, and $20."

So there I was on the campus smoking these really groovie new pipes all the time. When the pipe was burning my tongue,. I would blow into the pipe through the stem instead of sucking on them like always. And I made some money doing it.

I have done the same blowing, not for cash, to break in my own pipes.

A different time then I guess. Nowadays, you'd be waiting a long time in a shop. I guess guys bought so many new pipes back then, they couldn't be bothered with break-in.
