    1999 Assortment of Tobaccos.

I hear you. The fact of the matter is I quit smoking about 20 years ago when I moved to a hot climate; I only liked smoking during the cooler months at home. I tried to pick it up again a few years ago but could not get past the ashtray mouth after so long without it. I suppose I'll...

    1999 Assortment of Tobaccos.

At first because they had been a gift, a set, and I had plenty of tobacco. Then because the years went by and they seemed more and more special.

They have the little stickers on the back. Much nicer that way!

    1999 Assortment of Tobaccos.

Title edited. Not sure of your purpose. Original title: "Ten years later and they are still haunting my "box of pipe stuff" in the closet." I posted these in the summer of 2014, probably curious about the value, but obviously never parted with them. Came across them a couple days ago and...

Removing gold plating from Corona Old Boy lighter?

I'm very sentimental about things that I've had for any length of time, which aren't many, so I definitely wan to hang onto this lighter, but I certainly understand your point. I'm happy to leave it as it is, but if it were a matter of taking it apart and leaving it with a local shop that...

Removing gold plating from Corona Old Boy lighter?

Hello, all. Thanks for all of the replies! In the end, I'd like to have no gold (visible, anyway) so plating over it might be an option ... I'd assumed (for no reason) that it would have to be removed first. There are areas where the gold has worn through though, so that might make plating over...

Removing gold plating from Corona Old Boy lighter?

Thank you for that informative reply, Michael. I definitely want to keep this particular lighter due to it's history and my liking of older things over newer things (in most cases). If I really want to remove the gold, it sounds like I should have a shop do it properly, and then have them...

Removing gold plating from Corona Old Boy lighter?

After doing some more looking around, it looks like it's pretty easy to take apart enough to do the refinishing. I don't know what the metals are though as descriptions of the lighter indicate "all brass parts" which makes me think the brass is coated with nickel and then plated with something...

Removing gold plating from Corona Old Boy lighter?

Hello, I have an Old Boy that I purchased new ~25 years ago. It has the burl wood body with gold plating over nickel and I'd like to remove the gold. I imagine the best way to do it would be to dismantle the lighter and chemically strip the plating off of the metal bits, but I don't know how...

    Dunhill 5-Tin Gift Set

I agree that it would be lost on me due to how long it's been since I've smoked, and how little I smoke now anyway. To be honest, I wouldn't sell it either as it was a gift, but it's exciting to find that it's becoming all the more special. A freind of mine just opened a tin of Murrays 965, so...

    Let's See Your Kirsten Pipes

Hello, Any ideas as to their current status? I've just moved back to the Seattle area after being gone for about 12 years and see that they have moved from the Ballard area to a place on the south end of Lake Union; I'm hoping that's a good sign as to their future. I came across Kirsten pipes...

    Dunhill 5-Tin Gift Set

Well thank you, Anthony ... finally someone around here gives me some useful information! :-)

    Dunhill 5-Tin Gift Set

If the tobacco lasts, I might as well hang onto it for now. Since the box is opened, it sounds like it's worth less anyway. I still have the paper tape "seal" of the box, and it has the Dunhill insert card that sits on top of the tins. Thanks for all of the info!

    Dunhill 5-Tin Gift Set

I just learned of the Dunhill 'eras', and these would fall within the Murrays era as I received this set in 1999 or 2000. How long will they keep if I continue to keep them in a cool environment? How could I go about estimating their value? Thanks again, - Doc

    Dunhill 5-Tin Gift Set

Hello, After a 15 year hiatus from smoking, I'm starting to poke around in my collection again and will probably be posting some questions about my pipes at some point. For now, I wanted to ask about the ~15 year old Dunhill gift set that I still have ... all 5 tins are unopened and have been...
