Talk to Me About Wrist Watches

Quartz watches can keep better time than mechanical watches as long as they have batteries. That said, I am a fan of automatics and have worn them since the '70s. The watch brand I have been wearing for the last 15 years or so is Orient. They have given good service at a reasonable price...

    Leather and Pipes Revisited

It seems like you could use the broken cupholder as a base and line it with something that fits holds you churchwarden more securely/snugly. Was that the original intent for your deerskin? Or you could smoke a Lovat :puffy:

    Leather Pipe Stands

Sorringowl used to sell a simple loop leather pipe stand. I believe that loop was open enough for the bowl of the pipe to sit in and rest on a surface. The sides were high enough to keep the pipe upright. There is some discussion of the pipe loop in the following link. Just something to...

Lakelands: Let's Build A Sauce Scale

Number 7 Broken Flake and CCP unscented would be a 6. I believe the CCP aro would be pretty high up, maybe a 9? Incidentally, this should tell you how “ unscented” the CCP Unscented is.

Lakelands: Let's Build A Sauce Scale

I would think Brown Flake Scented would be about a 3. BCP unscented would be a 5 and BCP aromatic would be a 7. All subjective of course.

    Ennerdale Flake

I once opened a tin of Ennerdale with five years of age on it. The scent was reduced to a faint aroma and the sugars in the Virginia had crystallized. It was sublime. Fresh, wet, Ennerdale can smell up a room, steam your tongue, and ghost your pipe. I still love the stuff aged or fresh. I...

    Any Kaywoodie Fans?

With the Kaywoodie club on top of the stem, it might be earlier than the ‘50s. I am not sure when it was moved to the side.

Sam Gawith Bothy Flake in a brushed Stanwell billiard. First bowl of this tobacco. It is quite good.

No Deal Brexit US/UK free trade

Darn. I was fantasizing about filling an empty swimming pool with Ennerdale Flake and covering it with plastic wrap.

No Deal Brexit US/UK free trade

I believe that is an EU rule.

No Deal Brexit US/UK free trade

I have no desire to discuss politics and which side is right or wrong but as a casual observer of word events, a pipe smoker, and an idle muser, I wonder what the impact of a "no deal" Brexit would have on our community both in the US and the UK. The current US administration has stated that...

    Greywoodie Pipes

I am terrible with a camera but here is a link to the original sale for the one I bought. After smoking it a bit I have to say that this is the best acrylic stem I have smoked. Most acrylics are a bit thick at the button for me. This one is just right...

A Few Thoughts on Coniston Cut Plug

I am a big CCP fan too. I understand that the version available here in the states is the un/less scented. 4Noggins used to carry the aromatic version which had quite a bit more of the topping. That one was sublime.

    Sweetest Non-Aromatic

I have been wanting to try some of the Gawith and Hoggarth cavendish. I believe it is unflavored but through the production process it should be pretty sweet. If anyone has tried it, I would love to hear it. I have had it in Top Black Cherry and Black and Brown where it is flavored and quite...

    Greywoodie Pipes

I wanted to put in a good word for Greywoodie. I recently ordered a Kaywoodie 1/4 bent, blasted, billiard with an acrylic stem. Working with Nathan was a pleasure. The pipe shipped quickly and arrived today. It was well packaged and the pipe is of excellent quality. The blast is deep and...
