Question On How Your Categorize/Sort Your Pipe Collection.

I know, I put it off forever because it's just so much work. Then I took a weekend and wrote me a little tool where I just have to input the measurements, take 4 photos and it generates the ebay description page for me. ;-)

So, Anyone ever Tried this Amish Pipe Tobacco?

But you know ... according to the article there are over 1,000 Amish tobacco growers doing things the way like they were done in the good old days. That just begs to be catered to folks who are predominantly nostalgic, uhm ... us pipe smokers ;-)

Method Of Clearing Moister In Stem While Smoking.

I'd think the problem should solve itself over time. When they are well broken-in, those Trypis pipes smoke absolutely dry. However, until you have a good cake on it, I found the smokes to be quite moist in the second half. Luckily they build-up cake quite fast.

So, Anyone ever Tried this Amish Pipe Tobacco?

All I have to go on are two articles that suggest that there is some serious tobacco farming going on, and a lively discussion on reddit. I was wondering if anyone had heard of it / tasted Amish pipe tobacco, and to learn more :-)...

Question On How Your Categorize/Sort Your Pipe Collection.

I have organized and re-organized my collection multiple times, but the one I stuck with was by Shape -> then size -> then finish At least to me makes for the visually most appealing display.

So, Anyone ever Tried this Amish Pipe Tobacco?

First time I've heard about it, and interested. Seems like the U.S. version of Semois ... I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    Restaining Question

My favorite restaining technique at the moment doesn't involve dye at all, but tanine solution and an iron acetate solution. The two components together turn the wood jet black. You can either leave it like that or buff off with brown tripoli and put on a light top stain for some crazy constrast ;-)

Anybody Know Where and Who Sells This Pipe Rack

I'd rather have the juices in the bowl not travel through the stem when I rest my pipe for drying ;-)

Bizarre And Fascinating Web Structure Found in The Peruvian Amazon

It's an alien antenna to transmit their findings on the failing human race back home ... "don't bother invading this crap planet, it's all lost! Just get us home! Over."

    Restaining Question

Peter, I rough up a pipe stummel to be restained with 400 grit first, possibly wiping it down with acetone (nail polish remover) first, to remove the pre existing stain and clean it up. The I sand to 600, as 400 still leaves many fine scratches that are visible in light even after the final...

As I Dry My SG BBF

From the manufacturing notes I've read in the past week, most factories use drying ovens to bring moisture down to 19% and then let them sit in the factory for 24 hours before packaging. Maybe Kendall is just really really humid... ;-)

I Just Got Carded at Wal-Mart

When I lived in Seattle last year everyone got carded everywhere all the time. Even my 76 year old grandpa in his wheelchair. I talked to the bouncer and she said nothing she can do it was the law. I call bullshit...

    Restaining Question

I've always found that beyond 600 as a base for staining the stain just doesn't penetrate as well. The buffing off of the stain happens at 1000+ anyways and gives a nice gloss (tripoli/ diamond). One of these days ill just bite the bucket and hand sand one stumble up to 4000 and see what happens....

Oh My God! How Many Pipes Did You Buy!

Just take a lesson from the wife ;-) You buy stuff, then you put it away for a week or two. After you use it in the open and if she asks tell her you've "had that ole pipe for years dontcha recognize it"? Just how the ladies do with clothes and shoes .... ;-0

    What Distinguishes a French Pipe?

*tongue-in-cheeck* A french pipe smokes with a thick accent, likes to undress in public and will run away if you try to put some German-manufactured tobacco in it.

Three Nuns - No Perique - Why Not Add It

The point I'd like to make though is that merely adding bulk (equivalent to Imported Perique) after the fact won't do it, as: 1) The "Perique" in 3 Nuns was actually a composite of a specially manufactured and flavored perique, and a flavored imported Perique 2) The flavors and casings are...
