    Some Meershaum Issues

Jay, The pipe doesn't gurgle now. When I am done the bowl does not seem to be retaining as much moisture. The finish that was on the bowl was almost like a varnish. I am assuming it was not allowing moisture to wick off through the meershaum. Based on the fact that the only thing changed was...

    Some Meershaum Issues

Thanks for the responses. I have since sanded the "block Meershaum" pipe. The gloss came down pretty quite a bit. It still has a Matt finish. I am trying to decide if I want to try and sand more off and get down to the unfinished meershaum. I have smoked it and it does seem to breath a bit...

    Some Meershaum Issues

Sorry for the second post... finger fudge. to continue. I love the pipe shape and it smokes well. the issue is that it seems that it was pre-colored and then sealed over. This would seem to be counter-intuitive. the sealing would make the meerschaum less porous. I would like to sand the surface...

    Some Meershaum Issues

Hi there, I have had a recent fascination with meershaum pipes and not much luck with my recent purchases. A while back I spotted a poker on SP.com that was unnamed but was stamped "block meershaum" (pictured below),

I Am a YouTube Pipe Presenter

The trouble with this forum is the trouble with all message boards. The faceless, snide comments. Always and ever on the attack of anything outside of the clique's realm. I am sure the YTPC (YouTube Pipe Commnity) is a clique as well, but perhaps the fact they show face and interact in real...

    Tea and Tobacco

I love to drink gunpowder tea and black tea while smoking. Oddly enough I really got into collecting tea pots. I have several cast iron, ceramic and one clay that is my favorite. Great topic. Now I can add tea aquisition disorder to my other disorders!

Advice On A Bow For My Eleven Year Old Son

I would definitely start with going to an archery store and let them fit him for the right bow. I would also check your local ordinances. For instance where I live you need 500 feet around you, or permission from your neighbors. A stray arrow can be a bad thing. My advice would be to see if the...

    Depression Era Cooking

My Mom and Dad lived through the Depression and WWII. I ate a lot of weird stuff, but it wasn't weird to me. Egg Noodles in Warm milk, an egg in a hole, chow mien sandwiches are like comfort food for me. My mom and dad fed 8 kids and we never complained about what was put in front of us. Ever.

    Savinelli Seconds

I bought a Sav III from a poster from this site. Gave me a great price, but it has an ugly fill on the side of the bowl. I'm not complaining becsuse it is an awesome smoker and the vulcinite stem is very comfy. It has colored nicely.

Should I know anything about buying a Bulldog?

The bull dog is the most represented shape in my collection. There isn't a bad smoker in the bunch. My preference is for the squat style, but as far as shape I don't think you could go wrong.

We Are From The Global ... And We're Here To Help...

Shouldn't the question be.. "Do you smoke cigarettes?" The person answers yes "Do you need help switching to pipes? I have some literature on how to pack and smoke a pipe."
