Is It Better To Age Tobacco In The Factory Tin or A Mason Jar?

I sometimes mix a new tin in with some older, dryer same blend to add moisture. A older buddy of mine adds a piece of white Wonder Bread to the jar for a bit of time for that same purpose.

    2025 Chicago Pipe Show!

Wouldn’t miss it. Just a great three or four days— plus you get to go downtown and visit iconic Iwan Ries & smoke a bowl in their incredible lounge while the Chicago elevated train rumbles by the window (just like in the movie, The Fugitive.) And the food…

What are the best countries to buy pipe tobacco?

My wife and I were in Como last summer. Make sure to see the lake town of Bellagio. Unreal. Bring plenty of blends with you to smoke. In Italy, pipes galore, but no tobacco to pack them with. You have to go across the nearby border to Switzerland. Corti in Lecco and Castello in Cantù are...

Druquer & Sons By GL Pease

You were the second person to highly recommend Blawgowrie, so I opened the tin and put it in a jar with labels to enjoy. The first smoke was delicious, but I can only imagine what it will taste like a year from now with a little age.

Ron was an incredibly gracious host last year in Chicago and I can’t wait for this year.

Druquer & Sons By GL Pease

What is your favorite if you’ve tried any of these? I really like Inns of Court and The Merry Monk.

***What Are You Smoking, February 2025?***

Drucquer & Sons’ The Merry Monk in a small Tom Eltang bamboo tasting pipe. One can in the jar for smoking now and one in the tin for cellaring.

HH Mac Baren Rustica Nic Hit

Sutliff’s/Per Jensen’s Pipe Force Episode III had a healthy dose of Rustica that I enjoyed. But by far the strongest pipe tobacco I’ve smoked recently is Maestro Puccini. Wew.

If anyone knows how to adjust the flame on this small L2, I would appreciate some insight. It’s different than the one in the video I posted. Thanks.

Who Is Your Favorite Pipe Tobacco Blender?

I should have included John Brandt of Wilke Pipe Tobacco in the list above. I enjoy several of his blends, including Churchill and Pickett’s Charge. Here is a link to a nice article I found on Craig Tarler. https://wncmagazine.com/feature/pipe_dreams

Excellent video on YouTube posted by Peter Piper NYC. Very interesting. Check out the “cobra pipe” at the 17:10 mark.

    Favorite Youtube Channel?

Peter Piper NYC on YouTube just posted an interesting visit to the Paronelli Pipe shop and museum in Gavirate, Italy. An early “wind cap” pipe for bikers at the 8:50 mark is very cool.

    Favorite Youtube Channel?

Stuff and Things and Hobbiton Piper both recently had segments indicating that YouTube had totally “demonetized” their channels. Not too sure how that impacts their pipe tobacco content going forward. I have an ads-free, paid YouTube subscription so that obviously perturbs me. I’ve been...

    S.T. Dupont Lighter Owners Club

This is an informative YouTube video on the subject which should cover most Dupont L 2 lighters. You just have to love the complicated French engineering.

Is It Better To Age Tobacco In The Factory Tin or A Mason Jar?

One of my two Peterson Standard Mixture tins had that terrible EU warning, so both had to go into the jar to provide me a clean label for the front and top. I used a heat gun and utility knife to remove the labels.
