    Just in from STG/MacBaren/Sutliff

Yep. I got their emails ad nauseum all weekend. 20% off all the Stokkebye blends now too at SP… I assume these are made by STG.

    Just in from STG/MacBaren/Sutliff

I prefer SP also, but with many Mac Baren and Sutlif items sold out there, I was able to pick up several items on momscigars.com. No panic mark-up, quick shipping for about $9 and the website says Virginia law does not require them to collect sales tax on tobacco shipped out of state…

    Just in from STG/MacBaren/Sutliff

Well, there must be enough left to justify a $77 million sales price to STG. It will be interesting to see if they sell off any of the discontinued brand names to C&D or another smaller blending house. https://tobaccoreporter.com/2024/06/27/scandinavian-tobacco-to-acquire-mac-baren/

Ken Byron Ventures’ Post About Loss Of Sutliff

    Frassati Pipes

My wife bought me this Frassati pipe for Christmas at our local pipe shop, Chesterton’s in Steubenville Ohio. The carver is a young man in Texas named Josh. He named his shop Frassati after a Catholic saint who smoked a pipe. Although it was not a commission, the pipe stem and button on mine...

    Questions for Leonardw

This. TP’s photos of the pipe tobacco out of the tin actually make you want to grab some slices you might otherwise pass up. Although SP’s website is far more consumer friendly, this is one idea they should co-opt from TP.

    Favorite Youtube Channel?

Beans316 and London Calling with Simon are two of my favorite YouTube piping channels. But another that I highly recommend is TheVapingPiper (don’t let the name fool you; the London businessman who hosts is all about our kind of tobacco pipes.) I also like the father and son on the Pipes...

    Questions for Leonardw

Leonard—I may have missed it in this lengthy thread, but are you able to clarify which domestic retail website(s) STG will use going forward? Are there currently 3 — Pipes & Cigars; Cup O Joes and TobaccoPipes.com— now under the STG umbrella? Thx.

A Couple Of Gifts From McCranie’s

My son and daughter-in-law live in Charlotte and went over to one of my favorite brick & mortars for a few gifts. The iconic McCranie’s box that the Bird Hunt tobacco comes in is just incredible on all side.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2024?***

I love my Santambrogio pipes, too. Great value. Enjoy that beautiful pipe.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2024?***

After a beautiful Christmas Eve with our children and new granddaughter, a morning walk with some savory GL Pease “Meridian” in a Tom Eltang billiard with bamboo stem.

    Show Us Your Radice Pipes

Very cool Radice pipe, but that soft leather RD Field bag is the bomb. I recall reading that RD Field was the US distributor for Radice during the early 2000 period. Anyone have more info on RDF?

    Another Reason I Appreciate Laudisi/SmokingPipes.com

As I posted on another thread, SmokingPipes’ YouTube segment on identifying the “mystery pipe blend” hosted by Shane Ireland, with Andrew Wilkie, Truett Smith, Stephen Mawby and Alan Britt is something I always look forward to watching. They always start by identifying the “tasting pipe” each is...

Ken Byron Ventures’ Post About Loss Of Sutliff

The “team page” on the Sykes Wilford link provided in the KBV post above is worth a look. Laudisi has established quite a staff, which explains its success. SmokingPipes’ YouTube segment on identifying the “mystery pipe blend” hosted by Shane Ireland, with Andrew Wilkie, Truett Smith, Stephen...

    Malcolm Guite / Phil Keaggy

Yes, Malcolm Guite is always a good listen. The episode where he’s gifted his first artisan pipe by Jason Patrick is my favorite. In fact, it led me to commission a few pipes from Jason.

    Abe Herbaugh

I don’t have it yet. Bought it today based on those photos from Abe and his Instagram post today. I’m expecting a great smoke, though. I like his ring blasts, but this smooth rang a bell. Anyone else here smoke an AH pipe?

    Abe Herbaugh

I’ve wanted to add an Abe Herbaugh to my rotation for a while now. I sold a few pipes this week that I no longer smoked and used the proceeds to add this new, smooth billiard with bamboo to the pipe case.

Ken Byron Ventures’ Post About Loss Of Sutliff

I got this from KBV’s website. I saw on Pater Piper’s YouTube channel that KBV apparently has a more recent post (unless I misunderstood Pater Piper) about the demise of many of his blends due to Sutliff’s closing, but couldn’t find it. Perhaps it is on Instagram or an email to customers which I...

    Another Reason I Appreciate Laudisi/SmokingPipes.com

I have been (grimace) a pretty good customer of smokingpipes.com. I was surprised to receive this nice Christmas gift in the mail from them today. Shane and his crew are class acts.

    Questions for Leonardw

My guess is that when these pipe blends that were made in Richmond are now manufactured offshore and imported back into the US, the import tariffs will be significant.
