I really love keeping my tobacco in Le Parfait jars. You do t have to screw around with lids, and they are nice and wide to get your hands into them. If the rubber gasket goes bad, you can just replace it.
I am from Wisconsin, so naturally my hobbies are drinking beer and eating cheese.
In all seriousness, I am a musician in my spare time and play cello and piano. I also love to cook as well as bake bread.
Welcome! I too started with cigars, and I stick to them during our warm Wisconsin summers. I typically smoke my pipes when the weather gets a bit cooler.
We just had a cool front come through last night, and I am sitting on our patio by a fire enjoying a bowl of Bengal Slices.
C&D Opening Night blended with about 30% 20 year aged Escudo in a beautiful Richard Mason large apple.
20 year Escudo comes out of the tin almost jet black and imparts the flavor of fermented ripe cherries. Delicious!
I don’t smoke aromatics but I do dedicate pipes to the following tobaccos:
Virginia blends (including VaPers)
Burley blends
English blends
I had a beautiful new pipe that was so awful with English blends that I stopped using it. Months later I tried a burley blend in it, and voila, it smoked...
I reached out to them a couple of months ago, and they confirmed they use the screw-in stems They said they were working with their makers to eventually offer push stems
I have two meers. One with a screw-in stem and one with a push stem. I have had no issues with either whatsoever.
I have never used anything but tobacco in a raw briar bowl as well as those with a bowl coating. I have had no difference with them, except a couple of the raw briar pipes had a very raw briar flavor for the first couple of bowls. I wouldn’t worry about it. I would stuff it and puff it.
Over the past few years I have determined that any cigars I buy go into the humidor until the following year. I have had some cigars that were just terrible when I smoked them right after purchasing them. I just stocked my humidor this month, and I won’t touch those cigars until next summer. The...
I use the saliva and pipe cleaner method. I do find that my pipes that I use for Virginia blends have a higher buildup. I am assuming it is because of the sugar content. I have no issues whatsoever with my pipes that I use for Burley blends or English blends.
I have had the privilege of breaking in about five new pipes in the past few months. Some had maker added bowl coating in the bowl, and some were raw briar. Most of my pipes smoked beautifully from the first bowl. I had one with a coating that had a very off taste for the first three bowls, and...
I have two Neerup pipes. One I use for English blends, and the other, a churchwarden, I use for Virginias. No break in period. Can’t wait to find the next one I fall in love with!
