I could see how virginias could get dull after a while. Burley are definetly fantastic in a meer, and lately I've been dedicating some of my meers to my few latakia blends. I think that's my favorite combination yet.- didimauw

I smoke all of my Meerschaums back to back, Handle them all, (sometimes with dirty hands), drop em, and generally abuse the hell out of them. I prefer the 2 piece threaded tenon style junction. Plus like @Chasing Embers says, if it happens to break at the tenon, you just buy a new tenon. If...- didimauw

Beautiful pipe. And yes I would have returned the other one too, as I don't do funky colored stems or anything like that. I don't like bamboo stems or wood inlays of the sort even. But I'd never own a pipe with a blue or green or pink stem. I believe what you are seeing as far as "wonky"...- didimauw

I do tend to rotate my hobbies, but the pipe smoking is always there. One week I dive into reading about watches, the next is fountain pens, then cars, etc. But I don't think of pipe smoking as a hobby. Maybe that's the difference.
