    Smoke slowly they've said.

I believe it was an interview with Russ Hicks on the PMRS, he said that he had developed a mindset when smoking not to keep the bowl lit, but to keep the smoke cool. If it started to heat up, he stopped smoking. Words to live by there.

    RIP: Robbie Coltrane 1950-2022.

My wife, who is a major Harry Potter fan, let me know that Robbie Coltrane had passed. I believe he had been battling some form osteo-arthritis for several years. From the interviews that I have watched and read, he appears to have been a very generous person. Sad to think that Hargid has left us.

    Rattray’s Incoming!

Woo hoo! I'm down to my last can of Marlin Flake!

    Watch City Cigar's Flake #558

I just wanted to echo the statements others have made here. 558 is a fantastic smoke, as is Old Dominion. If you like something tangier, Simply Red is also a great smoke as well!

More New Forums Members Than Ever? Why Is That?

I am one of those new members here. Long time pipe smoker. I ditched Facebook a couple of years ago, along with Instagram and Twitter (although I never really used them). Still on Reddit, but the anti-tobacco mindset of that platform is getting really bad, and honestly, you can only tell people...

    Dishonorable Mentions

I received a tin of Viprati a couple years ago when P&C were throwing a big grab bag of stuff when you purchased X amount. I have yet to pop it open and try it yet. Thanks for the heads up! I will have to make sure I smoke it nice and slow when I get around to it!

    Nebraska Pipe Clubs

Do you know which Thursday of the month it falls on?

    Nebraska Pipe Clubs

I'd definitely be interested in getting together. I haven't been to Paul's in a couple years, so I wasn't aware there was a Thursday night club there!

    Dishonorable Mentions

The two that come immediately to mind for me are Distinguished Gentleman and Bacon Old Fashioned. I was so happy to have only bought a single tin/jar of each of these and even happier when I gifted them both to some poor schmuck who foolishly said he always wanted to try them.

    Dishonorable Mentions

Honestly the taste and mouth feel of Exotic Passion is not terrible, especially when you want to smoke something on a really hot day and garner attention from anyone around you. The bad thing is that whatever pipe you smoked it is now tainted for basically ever and you will walk around smelling...

    Drying Your Tobacco

When it comes to tinned tobacco, just about every blend is going to be different. Some manufacturers are notoriously wet, like Samuel Gawith. Others are on the drier side. Really the only hard and fast rule is to drying is your palate. I've always used mine to determine if and for how long a...

PS Bullseye Flake. What a Difference a Year Makes.

LBF is a staple in my rotation, with the caveat that it needs some maturing time. I went from six months to a year, to two years, to four years. I haven't noticed much of a difference between four year and five years of age on it. That being said, for the last five years I've been buying the...
