    14k Champagne Spigot Pipe

Awesome and very impressive as usual.

    Ready To Cellar

Jars on Amazon are very overpriced. I got mine through Ace hardware and target. ~$10 per dozen.

Don't Look Up... Question for Everyone

I enjoyed the movie. Overdone in some ways as some has said, but the premise is strong enough to keep it good. I’d want to know. I’d like the challenge and reward of rising above the fear.

    Cult Blood Red Moon

The cherry in blood red moon is too strong for me to enjoy taken alone. Interesting others feel it’s not strong. Even when I sometimes mix it with granger for fun, it’s a bit much. I’m not an aro smoker, though.

    Rum Blend Recommendations

I’ve tried a few. Rum flake is my favorite.

Your biggest Surprise in Pipe Smoking?

I’ve had a few surprises in my relatively short time smoking. Among them, that a ~$5 MM cob is one of my favorite pipes; that englishes aren’t my main smoke; that the same blend can taste so different on different occasions; that I’m not noticeably addicted to nicotine.

What are You Watching, 2021? Rating [*/5]

Polar Express. Sweet movie that can be interpreted as having a message much deeper than the importance of believing in Santa. edit: 4.5/5. Half a point off because the pacing is slow at times.

    Favorite Christmas Movies

The classic, It’s a Wonderful Life, is of course fantastic. Among more recent ones, The Santa Clause might be my favorite. What about you? What are some of your favorite Christmas movies?

Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake- What Else Has That Topping?

LTF is nice. I don’t think Newminster 400 is much like it, though. I don’t know of any coconut aromatics that you can add to blends as a condiment.. I’d like that myself, as I’m a coconut fan, and it might be the thing for you to look into, too.

Half Bowl Now, Half Bowl Later?

A half smoked bowl has always been unpleasant for me after it’s been sitting for more than a couple hours.

Honest Question: Why do we Care what a Smoker calls Himself?

“piper” sounds to me like something a person who likes to be silly would say. I don’t like silliness, generally, but my profession makes my name too perfect to pass up.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2021?***

I always found capstan blue harsh and not great. My fault— I finally dried it adequately today, and it was fantastic in my trusty Savinelli Venere 603.

School me on Determining Date of Fancy Tobacco Tins

Oops, third and fourth digits on OGS are hour; day is the final two. I’m getting this from an article on smokingpipes about Orlik product dating.

School me on Determining Date of Fancy Tobacco Tins

First two digits to the right of the barcode on OGS are year, next two day, next two, month. I think Escudo is the same.

Rewatched a few great samurai movies. Kagemusha, Harakiri, and Samueai Rebellion. Harakiri is my favorite samurai movie. I highly recommend that classic. I watch samurai movies because of the cultural aesthetic. Specifically, there’s an ever present tension, of self-restraint, in the atmosphere...

A Day So Bad I Can't Even Smoke a Pipe

Stay strong, friend. Only the way we deal with things matters.

If You Could Only Have 100 Tins.

Two blends, 50 each. One a Va or Va/Per, say OGS. And a heavier blend with Burley and some nice flavoring, like Rum Flake or Best Brown #2.

Why Associate Pipes and the Ocean?

No doubt-- but I get the impression that that image isn't nearly as classic as that of the pipe-smoking sailor.

Need Help Choosing a New Pipe!

A cob is the obvious answer.

Why Associate Pipes and the Ocean?

Thanks for the ideas, guys. All these practical reasons sound right. I suppose sailing is the perfect kind of activity to become associated with pipes--having a lot of downtime in the middle of nowhere and so on. But then why isn't the pipe-smoking farmer, say, just as common? Why doesn't...
