What Are The Physics Of "Thick Wall = Cool Smoke"?

This is interesting. All I know is: I you puffy-puffy to fast= Hot pipe I you puffy-puffy to hard= hot tongue No matter how thick or thin the pipe bowl is.

    Natural vs Polished MM Cob

I don't consider the naturals less superior necessarily. I have a finished cob that the plaster of Paris is starting to crack and fall out a little. Still smokes perfectly and has seen a lot of use and will continue for years to come. The corncob pipe has been around this long for a reason...

    Natural vs Polished MM Cob

I have a few polished and few natural. I personally like the natural. While the cobs with hardwood plugs are considered the most durable and recommended, even a lower tier cob will last you a very long time if you care for it. The coated cobs are a bit easier to keep clean as mentioned, however...

    Tamper Talk

Before and after of one I whittled on my lunch break. It's quite satisfying.

What Are The Physics Of "Thick Wall = Cool Smoke"?

I agree with this. The thickness of the bowl will "feel" cooler but not necessarily smoke cooler. There is also the theory of what the bowl is coated in effecting the temperature of the wood itself as well as the smoke. For example a heavily shellacked bowl would not disperse heat trapping it...

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Flying Dutchman match with a mug of black tea and a drizzle of honey. Dutchman has a faint herbal taste on the backend that pairs well with teas.

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Sutliff Chatham Manor in a cob with my morning coffee. Have a good one!

Public Service It Is Best To Remember...

When I was about 18 or 19 years old and knew everything about the world and everything in it that goes on, like you do occasionally at that age. A gentleman maybe in his mid 50's said to me one day " Anyone can teach you something." That pretty much changed my life. Always listen respectfully...

    Corn Cob Pipe and SWR.

It's a good combo choice pretty much any time. Burley blend and a strong black coffee just can't be beat imo.

Do You Smoke Primarily with Nose or Mouth or Both?

Puff-puff out of my mouth-breathe-puff-puff-smoke in my mouth-out through my nose-puff-puff-repeat. Pipe never leaves my mouth. Never inhaling.

    Tamper Talk

A pipe nail that I made. Standard #16 nail shaped by hammer on an anvil with a distressed finish. Easy done while having a smoke. Best part, if it gets lost I have 5 more pounds of nails to replace it. ?

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Pegasus is just on repeat right now. It's enjoyable in a cob and a briar, although the cob just seems right for this blend. Thinking aloud, with an iced green tea with a spritz of lime. Hope y'all enjoy your day.

    How Far is Too Far?

Some blends burn great all the way to the bottom. Others 3/4's of the way. Lots of variables, including how well the pipe has been taken care of or let rest.

    That Tub Is Huge.

I'm glad I looked at this thread. I was going to order a few tubs of PA myself... I guess looking at a normal pouch you're not imagining a tub would be that large. Especially considering how much of a bulk blend you can pack into an 8 oz jar.

Plug And Rope That Are Not Elusive?

Thank you for your suggestions. Kbven.com definitely seems to have some of the more "rare" plugs and rope. GLP seems to have a number of choices I look forward to trying.
