Interesting Modern Deco Pipe Stands On SP.com
They sold out quickly tonight. They came in gold and gunmetal, for one or three pipes. I assume the base is an engineered plastic but it was not described. The single stands were $25 and the 3-pipe stands went for $45. I like them. What do you think? I wish them came in a chair model, too.- Mike N

I am meeting a buddy of mine (a well-known Ohio pipe maker) for a bite to eat around 4:30 pm Tuesday before going over to The Pipe Rack. Jay Mouton Squat Tomato
By the.way, I used the descriptor “squat” tomato rather than “squashed” tomato because MBSD where I got it described it as “ J Mouton Sandblasted Long Shank Squat Tomato w/ Mammoth Handmade Briar Pipe, New” Oh well, toe-may-toe vs. toe-mot-toe, I guess. -

This is my first Mouton, though I’ve admired his pipes for a while now. In the second photo it’s shown alongside another squat tomato by Adam Davidson, which is loaded with some Palmetto Balkan and ready to go. -

I find 333 to be a smooth smoke, and its cube cut burley is obviously top quality. But as JimInks noted in a review, 333 is like a refined version of that codger favorite, Carter Hall. I smoked two bowls of Blend W in a small Tom Eltang billiard and the Burley & Latakia were very tasty, along with something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Yes, I always ask for a few extra paper labels when the blends come in plastic bags and they are always generously supply a few at no charge. That’s the first time in 67 years anyone’s ever complimented my penmanship, but I guess in comparison it is a bit nicer than….- Mike N

LJ Peretti - 5 Burley Blends I Ordered
As I always do, I jarred all five bags. Two ounces of loose pipe tobacco fits tightly into a 4 ounce jar. So far the W. looks really the most interesting because it is a cube cut. I did smoke a bowl of the Cuban Mixture on my walk with the Doberman tonight and it was as good as I remembered.- Mike N
