    Bull Run by Sutliff

And, in my opinion, that is not what a tobacco blender does.

    2021 Eight State Burley

Not sure why ”well played”… I just deleted it as soon as I saw that someone else had made a similar comment. :)

Frustrated by Escudo Navy De Luxe Rolls

In book publishing, there’s the idea that the mega-sellers—the Stephen Kings and James Pattersons of the world—are the books profitable enough to enable their publisher to produce other books that are worthy of publication but which will never sell many copies. Without the mega-sellers, the...

Finding a Balance with VaPer/Straight Virginia Blends

If you’re only experiencing this with VaPers, it may not be “tongue bite” at all; you may have a perique sensitivity. I’m very sensitive to perique and can only smoke it in the smallest of doses without discomfort. Otherwise, it feels like needles piercing my tongue.

    Chacom Hate?

Unless you know who is commenting—and on what they’re basing their “opinions”—this is essentially meaningless noise. The ones who will know the pipes the best, and be best equipped to comment on them, are the people who have bought and smoked Chacom pipes for years. Not the ones who have never...

    Appreciation For C&D Crumble Cakes

The only crumble cake I’ve smoked is Penzance. It’s my all-time favorite blend. I can’t say that I’m going to go out of my way to sample the C&D CCs, though. For me, C&D has way too much focus on burley and higher-nicotine blends for my tastes. (While I enjoy a few burley-only blends and...

Loss of VIP Bronze Status at SmokingPipes.com

It helps that Laudisi owns both companies. :)

    Pipes as collectibles

Dayton Matlick, owner and publisher of Pipes & Tobaccos magazine, wasn’t a pipesmoker (or any kind of smoker), yet he spent years in the industry. I believe he collected high-grade pipes.

    FS Frog Morton and Dunhill

The main criteria is going to be the age of each tin. It’s impossible to give too much help without knowing when these tins were released. (And you didn’t actually mention Frog Morton in your post…?) This may not be the best section to ask this question. People are going to come here expecting...

    1999 Ashton question

If you mean that all Ashton pipes were single-handedly made by Bill Taylor, I’d guess not. Ashton wasn’t a one-man operation. However, I know that he personally hand-finished every private-label pipe that Ashton made for the McCranie’s shop. So perhaps he performed some level of handwork for...

    Chacom Hate?

Headline: “Pipesmokers Hate Chacom: ‘They’re too easy to lose!’”

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

For the shank, I highly recommend using a pipe brush dipped in high-proof alcohol, followed by bristle pipe cleaners, followed by standard pipe cleaners. Just be very careful not to get the alcohol on the outside of the pipe.

You Have HOW Many Pipes? (New G.L. Pease Article)

Agreed! I think he’s just been on the once, so far, and it was really early days for the show…ended up being a wasted opportunity. Didn’t discuss blending or tobaccos much at all.

    Let’s Talk about Two Friends

I realize a photo’s worth a lot of words, but would you care to tell us about your experience with this blend?

    Do You Cellar Unsmoked Pipes

Well, if you don’t have fire, you can’t smoke a pipe. To me, the thing likely to get overlooked—and which I have stockpiled—is pipe cleaners. Throughout the year, I try to pick up as many boxes as I can. (If you smoke 10 bowls a day, own 50 pipes, and need to do semiannual deep cleaning, you...

    Let’s Talk about Two Friends

Wow. I cannot imagine two more disparate blenders.

    Folklore Vacuum seal

Here’s the thing: Unless the bag is dated, you have no idea how long it has already been stored in the bag or under what conditions. Since you received it “a couple of weeks” ago, it may have already spent a month or more in plastic. I only rarely buy in sealed, 1lb bagged quantities. But when...

    Let’s Talk about Two Friends

I’ll give you that. But still: I think it’s safe to say that many brands and blends get mentioned here repeatedly, while a number of brands/blends aren’t mentioned at all. I mean, it’s literally been 10 years since Two Friends has come up in a thread (other than WAYS). For a brand with multiple...

    Chacom Hate?

Unless I’m missing something, your “evidence” of hate is based on the comments of one person who has a bias against the brand based on his personal tastes. On that basis, I’m sure you could find evidence of “hate” here for every pipe and tobacco on the market.
